View Full Version : Lifting cables

Hi guys,

I want to make a crane that lifts up stuff the only problem are the cables.
I want cables between the crane's hook and the objex that will be lifted.

how i do it now:
When the crane is going up the object also has to go up. Now I duplicate the object and hide it when its lifted and show a same object that is parented to the hook. then when he is done lifting and want to get an other object i hide the object again and I make an other one visible.
this is way to much work and i probably doing it all wrong

I just want dynamic cables that will have ALOT of stiffnes since these cables arent elastic.
the cable has to bend when there is no tention but it can not stretch. Also i need the 2 ends to be able to connect to things.

A---------------------------B when i pull A then B has to move and the other way arround. When i pull B , A has to move ( but the cable may not stretch)
I also tryed with normal joints and an IK in but that never goes prety well also..

I found a lot of tutorials but all with stretch or way to low stiffnes.

Can any one help me out here?
