View Full Version : Even noise
What 3D procedural texture could I use to make an even noise pattern without any tiling issues?.
I've tried volume noise, but, I need a very small noise pattern, and the tile pattern of the noise is very visible..., the same with rock texture or fractals.
P.S.: I'm searching for this kind of pattern:

just make your own tileable image in Photoshop and use it as a bump:
Thank you for your reply. But I'd wanted to use procedural textures because I want to use the noise texture to be applied on several objects of different sizes and arbitrary UV layouts (they have many seams very visibles if I use bitmaps).
Thank's for your info BTW.

I think the best way to remove visible tiling from procedural textures is to add layers with a different offset/frequency/scale. It will give more variety to the overall noise. so combine 3 texture nodes and plug that into a bump.

I still would use a fractal or solid fractal with a upscaled place3d node and tweak the settings. Maybe you have to change the decimal precission to 4 or 5 to get the small details. If that dont work you could try out the binary alchemy mental ray shaders. They got a few more parameters to tweak than the standard maya nodes.
I've tried but the results are the same, scaling the place 3d node or the scale attribute of the texture.
I've fixed the tiling issue making the texture disappear when the camera is far enough to see the tiles.
