View Full Version : Modelling Edge Issues in Maya2010

Working in Maya 2010, I'm having a problem with the normals on a hard surface model I'm working on. The model looks fine until I bevel and use "Soften Edge" on the edges. Once I do this, I get some weird feedback along the larger sides of the model's face. Strange dark/light (depending on the angle) triangles appear along it, even though the face polygons are completely planar. Please see the photo below, and let me know if anyone had encountered this/has a solution. Thanks:

Looking at the construction of the model this probably isnt the problem. But it looks almost as if your normals arent all facing the same direction, you might want to just check if you created a hole in the geometry or built a new piece at anytime. Again it doesnt look as if you did this but it never hurts to check especially with 2010.
