View Full Version : Great detail with Low Poly

Hello :)

I just have a quick question which ive been wondering for tooo long.
How do people go about having extreme detail on there characters
though when i see the wire frames its as if the polygons have been
knocked back to the extreme.
I realise this question probably needs an answer the size of a book,
though if anyone can give me a basic description that would be
extremly appreciated. I realise you have most of the details in the maps-
spec maps ect, though a majority of the finished products i see seem
very smooth with no jaggered edges opposed to the wire framed version.

Thank you for reading.

Look up "Normal maps" and the creation of them as that should answer most of your questions as like you said its quite a large subject to go into detail here.

As for the edge or silouette of the model you just have to be careful when you make the low res mesh.
