View Full Version : release camera target over time

09 September 2009, 12:29 PM

I'm animating a camera move. From the beginning of the animation the camera has to follow a target object and later on it needs to let go of the target and move on. I created a null object to act as the target. I don't want the camera to follow it throughout, just at the beginning for a couple of seconds..

Any ideas on how to tell the camera to at some point let go of the target?

Thanks you :)

You can try using a Constrain Tag (Aim and Up mode)
or mix a Target using expresso, see the quick scene example:

camtargetmix scene R11 (

Doing lot of camera work there are a few camera animation packages
out there.
-SteadyCAMPRO (My favorite :) Check out my sign.)
(Both commercial)
-and CSTools a free bunch of good expresso rigs that
includes camera set ups.

Thanks for posting this. A very nice and smooth animation! It will help me out a lot I'm sure once I understand what all those settings mean. Thanks a bunch :)
