How do I create different type of Specular highlight shapes like if I want to simulate a soft box highlight on the eyes with mental ray?

I would either use real raytraced reflections, and make an opacity mapped bright card to simulate the type of reflection you want in your scene, or use environment mapped reflections and paint a custom map to be in the correct shape. And then turn off the specular highlight.
