Smart Save - free plugin
Smart Save is a video post effect that saves a new image from the RGB-buffer / render result for each
render action (editor, region, window).
These images will be saved at the documents location or a chosen folder with the format
<documentname><date><time> - JPG or TIF.
So it enables you to compare previous versions of your test renderings against recent changes or to
document your workflow without having to chose a different target-file each time you render.
Smart Save works with C4D R10 and newer (PC/Mac) and also with 3rd party renderers such as Vray.

This is a very useful plugin! Thank you :)

Nice plugin man. It will prove useful for fiddling with details in an image. This enables a much more easier comparision of rendered regions. No need to mind anymore to save/capture screenshots.
Good luck and keep 'em coming.

Adding my thank-you to flip for producing a great tool.
It appears that the HUD and the Doodle Tool don't render into the Smart Save image, even with the "Render HUD" and "Render Doodle" options enabled. Just checking if this is the current expected behavior.

Clever and useful. A big thanks for the Mac and v10 versions.

Thank you all for your kind feedback!
Yes, currently this is expected as C4D overlays the HUD in another
render buffer layer.
Smart Save stores only the RGB buffer - for now...
HUD and software/gl viewport shading will be saved along with the
RGB buffer if you do a region-rendering.
Future versions of Smart Save will allow to store a multipass TIF
including a selection or all of all the available buffers.
