Lighting setup 2.... thanks to Cameron Whitehouse (

Animation- MAya KeyFrame- 2weeks 4 days worth of work while mixing in NY freelance. Everything with nunchucks heavily referenced- from the backflip on is straight ahead animation completed in 3.5 days.
Character Model- Matt Kummer.... thanks again
set props- modeled textured by me.

More info on the ChuckSabers concept

Final concept pages.- These pages outline a Force-Push weapon spin-off using Caridan glass.

ps- Caridan glass comes from the debris of Carida, the Imperial Military training planet destroyed by Kip Duron with the sun-crusher. Most likely creator of the CHuckSabers would be Dr. Qwi Xux in the valley of the winds with the Vors..... If this needs to be linked to the Star Wars universe on the light-side that is.... If this is a SIth Weapon it can pretty much be written in anywhere, and people will buy it.
There thats it.
Sean Thorpe.

08 August 2009, 08:20 PM
This really turned out well. Nice work.

08 August 2009, 08:26 PM
wow this is my first post in a long time.....
def cool idea...seems very dangerous to user unless very skilled (which i actually like the idea of)...why hasnt anybody ever thought of this before...

08 August 2009, 09:21 PM
Ridiculously cool! Innovative design and fabulous execution.

08 August 2009, 10:47 PM
Wickedly awesome animation and concept!!!

I like the lighting set up 1; however, I dig the lighting of the walls and floor in the second setup.

Absolutely spectacular work!!! Congrats!

I appreciate the positive comments, and it leads me to believe that I'm headed in the right direction.
:) next update will probably be a fight between force sphere wielder and ChuckSabers Sith.

Holy crap man, my friends and I were just talking about this the other day.. and you pulled it off flawlessly! That animation is pro, and the design is insanely detailed :D Great job!

08 August 2009, 11:42 AM
I like animations very much congratilations.

08 August 2009, 12:14 PM
Why does this remind me of Fighter from "8-Bit Theatre"? :)

08 August 2009, 06:21 PM
I love the new lighting! Nice job Cam! Nice work on this. I wish you many many kickass job offers :)

08 August 2009, 06:31 PM
Thanks Jim. I appreciate everyone's positive comments

08 August 2009, 06:44 PM
Yeah, the new lighting looks sweet! I like that the sabers light up the surroundings too. I also like the blurred saber trails in the first version. I can't remember if they actually do that in the star wars movies, but I don't care, it looks cool!

08 August 2009, 08:45 PM
wicked! i can't believe you did all this in your "spare time".

08 August 2009, 08:54 PM
You have done well Grasshopper.

08 August 2009, 11:59 PM
Killer man. Looks great with the new lighting too :)

08 August 2009, 12:52 AM
Nice Sean. although i don't quite understand the logic behind the light saber. But the animation looks nice.

keep it up!

08 August 2009, 01:33 AM
sweet stuff sean. I'm sure the risk of cutting off your own limbs is much higher, but hey that's what makes it badass.

08 August 2009, 01:45 AM
I liked it. Awesome work.

08 August 2009, 06:20 AM
Indeed you are powerful, as the Emperor has foreseen

08 August 2009, 06:33 AM
I'm sure the risk of cutting off your own limbs is much higher

The ChuckSabers come with a companion bracelet that puts a threat detection field around the user. The energy will automatically cut off when coming in contact with this field. They are actually perfectly long as the bracelet is intact.

Plenty of concept pages posted under the animation links to describe their inner workings.

Thanks everyone for showing sooo much love on this.. :)

08 August 2009, 06:13 PM
Thanks for all the great comments. I enjoyed working on this as much as you're enjoying watching it.

08 August 2009, 06:56 AM
Holy crap that was awesome! being a star wars fan and an animator that was just pure ecstasy. :scream:

08 August 2009, 09:48 PM
great animation and rendering, i want to see more

08 August 2009, 03:16 AM
I kinda prefer the risk of cutting off my own limbs though. That's what make jedi so badass yeah? I guess its good to have an autoshut offf when your training though >.>

08 August 2009, 03:07 AM
Okay for a force master, and all around BadAss there can be a manual shut-off mode. It would probably come in handy if anything ever happened to the bracelet, but that's just one more thing to drain concentration from all the blaster bolts shot at you..... but ur right there is a little more RockStar status there.

08 August 2009, 04:45 PM
Nice Job! The chucksabers are solid, and I have no comments on those. Really good work.
What I don't understand are the force spheres you have down at the bottom. Seems silly to float some spheres around with the force when you would have the use of force LIGHTNING!
That's my only crit.

08 August 2009, 03:42 AM
Thank you for the complements.
The only Real advantage to the force spheres is distance, and maybe a micro-thermal detonator.
Good question. ty

08 August 2009, 05:42 AM
Way Cool!!! The animation was fantastic, very smooth; and I love the concept...who doesn't like nun-chucks!

08 August 2009, 06:42 PM
Excelent work man!! I love the Data sheet and the idea behind this project!!

The animation is simply fantastic!!!

My compliments...

09 September 2009, 09:36 PM
Nice, dig the concept. The animation rocks, great job on that.

A couple of things I'd like to mention. I think the wink at the end is a nice touch, I just wish it was a bit more exaggerated. A like both lighting scenarios, but a combination of both I think will give it more oomph, like the lens flare when the sabers cross would have been a nice touch in the darker version.

I really dig it t though, hope you continue with the idea and do more with it.

:d Epic :d

Jealousy has clouded my mind.

Very nicely done Sean and very nice lighting Cam.
That concept on how it all works was very well thought out.

Keep it up

09 September 2009, 03:03 PM
Thanks you guys.

A new animation is in the works ya'll... 2 character fight scene... Wooooo
Keep an eye out for it in the next month. If things keep going smoothly...

Have a nice day everyone :)

09 September 2009, 08:08 AM
Awesome!! Hahaha, animation and lighting are really great, and the characters style is really cool (give more in the second video... dunno why...)... and finally the concept is EXCELLENT... a Nunchuck-mix-saber... totally awesome!!

Excellent job of all of you!! :buttrock:

09 September 2009, 04:43 AM
totally sweet! how the heck did you get reference for that. my suggestion would be something more with his face? more anger, or gritted teeth? I totally love the ending flip move.

great job!

11 November 2009, 12:19 AM

11 November 2009, 12:26 AM
