this guy has started a very cool challenge to recreate his HDRI scene in your own software. the idea is to find out what software/renderer is the best for HDRI

as you can see, there is a lot of lightwave and brazil and vray renders.
But the question is, how good can this be done with normal scanline renderer in Max, using GI? i'm convinced good results can happen ( i've managed before). however, this particular exercise requires composition, and so far i have ran into some obsticles, which, if you decide to try this, you may well run into. but more on that later.
All the neccessary files are available from the first link. you will also need the Splutterfish HDR plugin for max to use these files.
So lets try this. lets take max to the limit! :cool:
