View Full Version : Sky-background problem

Hello all,

I am currently working on a project together with a schoolmate, for school of course ;) . It's a short educational animation, unfortunately it is not online right now, but here's the problem: we can't get a nice sharp sky to set as a background. We work with 3ds max 2009, and tried a HDRI-map to set as an environment. The problem is max crashes, or we get a memory error (every time).

The scene(s) is(are) really not that big, so we can't solve it that way so we tried other ways to create a nice sky like using a sphere with the same (HDRI)map sticked on as a jpg, but the problem then is that the map gets stretched out and renders unsharp. So we tried making the map bigger, but no matter how big the map is, the sky still renders blurry. We also opted to set the sky manually in after affects but the problem then is that the camera moves in all axes so the sky should move along those axes. That's a hell of a job to get that animated exactly right so that's not a very nice option for us. For now we're out of solutions so any help out here would be very nice, or maybe you got some other tips to get the original HDRI back to work again. Thanks in advance.
