View Full Version : Studio lighting for fluids...
I'm trying to create a studio environment for time lapse exploding fluids, like highspeed photo shooting.
I'm experimented with white cards and Vray lights, but that doesn't yield very nice results yet. I haven't tried with HDRs yet...
I understand the trick is behind both the reflections and refractions of the liquid.
I wanted to gather some tips, ideas and references of how to set up such an environment.

For the first one chances are the strobes are 45 or less to the object. It's a good idea to have something to refract, so a black bg might not be the best, but it depends on how your lights are set up. I would use visible area lights to provide both illumination and reflections/refractions.

I've thought of the same, visible area lights at different angles and higher IOR to refract white cards off the background. But doesn't always look good. It definitely needs experimenting with the refractions and the shader.
