View Full Version : Light Linking mental ray sub-surface in Maya 2008?

Is it possible to light link an object with a mental ray SSS shader on it? Im using maya 2008, and it seems like the light map is always transmitting light through the subsurface shader from lights that are not linked to the object.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

hey there,

MR shaders in maya 2009 respect Maya centric light linking between lights and objects - SSS shader included.

I guess in 2008 this is not so...

Instead use MR light linking available per shader.

Go to the "light linking" dropdown in the misss_fast_lmap node and select "Exclusive Linking". Attach all lights that you dont want to contribute to the lightmap to the light list below. Conversly, you can choose "Inclusive Linking" and attach only the lights you want to contribute to your lightmap.
