View Full Version : Trouble recreating a shader

I am trying to recreate this character with this exact golden shader. But can't find the right setting in mental ray materials.
Here's how far I hav reached till now.

Its nowhere near, please can anyone tell which shader to use to begin with, i hav tried different settings in mia shader but no use,please help me out.

Set the diffuse to black, the reflection color to what you need, turn the fresnel surve to 0,8\1,0.

I am sorry i forgot to mention that i am working in maya,and the link belongs to 3dsmax materials.

I don't think your material is off as much as what you're reflecting. A reflective surface only looks as good as what the material is reflecting. Try create a gradient reflection map that is pure white at the top and goes to a medium grey as it gets lower in the scene.
