Need help doing realistic (bah ha) muzzle flashes, if you could point out tuts or sample scenes, would be nice!

need to be scaleable, got to do 9mm to .50AT rounds.

Are you doing the muzzle flashes over live action?
If so you are probably best doing them in post. AFX, Combustion, DFX ect

Iím doing a project at the moment requiring loads of flashes over live plates. I using a combination of single frame flashes and practical smoke effects.

I can email you some exampels if you want.

clipmaps with a small flare.
can do them in camera in lightwave
also create smoke with particles
just angle em up
run a simulation
adjust hypervoxels

render with alphas. incase u want to further effect it in compositing.

if you dont get a full alpha i think flare to alpha fixes some problems with alphas. example of multiple angle gunshots with particle steam.
