Hey there,

Blue Sky Studios' VFX Supervisor Kirk Garfield faced an imposing list of FX and volumetrics for the third installment of Ice Age. In this feature, CGSociety digs deep into the geeky depths of Maya to show how they made snow stick.

Thanks, I'd been wondering how they handled the footprints in the snow.

The CG in this film totally blew me away. Great read.

great to see just for the cg, and I might add that the stereoscopic effect was very subtle and effective.

the "real d" in this movie was really good, as in, it wasn't load and in your face which really made it a much better film because of their decision to just have everything else as the focus. I soon forgot I was watching in 3d and just enjoyed the movie.

This movie totally redeemed the Ice Age franchise in my eyes after the appauling #2.

Thanks for posting this behind the scenes focus, gave me some good ideas of my own.
