Ill be entering the race, time and schedule permitting. Plan on creating all my own assets.

I'm thinking of going for a neo 'steampunk' style, with the mono cycle propelled by steam and whatnot.

07 July 2009, 09:42 PM

Here's a super quick doodle of the general concept.

07 July 2009, 11:56 AM
Started some exploratory modeling. Might go with this, might try something else.

07 July 2009, 06:19 AM
Wow that is an incredibly huge monowheel. Think you'll be needing smaller threads than that :)

07 July 2009, 10:42 AM
Been a little busy at work, but tried to block out some additional stuff.

07 July 2009, 02:05 AM
Did some additional modeling. Also adjusted overall scale to something alot larger. Going for real huge behemoths.

07 July 2009, 02:31 AM
wow epic, what is the terrain going to be like?

07 July 2009, 02:42 AM
probably 'road race' like. Can't see these guys going around in circles and loop de loops :D

07 July 2009, 09:20 PM
love the size - that's awesome

07 July 2009, 09:45 PM
thanks a bunch. hope I get to finish it.

Updated modeling. Added double the pistons and camshaft. ALso added secondary booster jets, though primary locomotion is provided by steam. Redid some other stuff. Hope to start on the cab here real soon. Then on to texturing and rigging.

Sweet man. That railing really helps bring in a sense of scale, something that I think was missing before. Looking forward to your progress :)

08 August 2009, 01:23 PM
I got bored with modeling, so decided to start some rigging. Its pretty rough, but I've never rigged anything of any consequence.

That's an insane wheel that :D The titanic of wheels

08 August 2009, 12:52 AM
Rendered out a turntable animation the other day and noticed that my camera path didn't have enough segments giving it this unintended 'jumpy' effect. Though it looked kinda cool and made it look real old. So I threw the frames into digital fusion, slapped on some goofy effects and this is what came out. :D

i mean u can't go wrong with some film damage and a bit of shake! :) looks cool

Having alot of fun! This is a a doctored up opengl playblast.

08 August 2009, 03:27 AM
Still after some texture work. Haven't done much with the environment, other then a simple ground object and textures. Still need ground scrub and need to work out creating the animated displacement map for the treads.

08 August 2009, 03:35 PM
what a giant wheel!!

wouldn't wanna be run over by that thing.

...And is it me or does the wheel just keep getting bigger and bigger each render?

Good Stuff Fuh!

08 August 2009, 09:30 PM
Here's a test shot for a shot I'm incorporating. It will be a rack focus type shot.

08 August 2009, 09:56 PM
Great to see it in an environment.. It kind of reminds of podracing, but with other vehicles oviosly :) how the hell do you spell "oviosly"? :D

08 August 2009, 10:55 PM
heh thanks. Its spelled obviously :D

08 August 2009, 11:55 AM
How's it going with the project?

08 August 2009, 03:22 PM
Well I basically had it finished last week, but decided to spend the extra time putting in a couple extra shots. Rendering the last stuff on work computers as we speak. Compositing and re-editing this weekend. Hope to post finished video sunday.

08 August 2009, 03:02 AM
Check here for my finished entry:

Good luck everyone and hope you enjoy it!
