is there a way to keep transparencies from incoming shaders in mix8/20? it negates the transparency coming from the last shader and i get black instead of..well..transparent. is there a way to make this work?

I suppose you are connecting an maya shader with tranparencies?
Well..... no. There is no easy way to do it.

yes, 2 blinns. i rather not use layered shader, must i?
