View Full Version : Animation short - "An eye on you"

Hi, I'm Maxime Ferain, student in his third and final year in a computer graphics school. This is my first post here and any comments will be appreciated.
I would like to introduce to you the first short I've made for my 2D-3D animating lessons (I have actually made another short during the creation of this one).
I have realised it with 3DS Max and After Effects. I have originally created it 1024x576 and i convert it up to 1280x720 with a plug-in in AE.
I also render Z-depth jpeg to create a DOF in AE.
It takes me more than a year to create it, but I wasn't non-stop working on it.
'Grey is walking down the street when he notice something is watching him...'
Available in HD on Vimeo (720p) :
Also available on WMV here (128mo) (right-click the link and save as...) :
Smaller size in MOV (640x360) (26mo) :
I also included in the dvd i've made an alternate ending (that is more like a happy ending) that you can watch here :
Alternate ending WMV (720p) (13mo) :
Alternate ending MOV (640x360) (11mo) :
This is a finished work; however, I'm thinking about changing a bit the credits, and also maybe something in the soundtrack.
I must admit that there are some weak points in my short, like for instance, the way my character runs.
Hope you'll enjoy it. If you want to know more about the creation, let me know.
Any comments and advices are very welcome!! Thanks.

I loved the idea..!! To not use any color or texturing is great for this ambiant. But I thing animation needs a little work. Walk, when character getting suprised and some other things must be more effective to give the idea. But it is uniqe! I love it :applause: :applause:

the idea was cool but the animation needs a lot of work,
look for the animators survival kit, it will tell you everything you need about timing, weight shift, cog, etc. if you're looking to become an animator, that book will serve as your bible :)

Thank you! I really liked the idea to create a short without colour and have a dark ambiant. I will try to animate my future animations with more work on the movement of the character.
Thank you for your advice, I will take a look to it. I'm not really looking to becoming exclusively an animator, as I am really interested by compositing, and other stuffs related to video editing. (and also webdesign, but thats another story;)).
