hápffff ... nem tudok mit irni igazabol. le vagyok nyugozve. a texturak nagyon durvan jok!!!!!

07 July 2003, 08:58 AM
Brilliant, simply brilliant I just don't know how you do it, I mean modeling a bird is one thing, a human character is another, but a human character with distinct brid qualities, the designs for both are amazing in their own right let alone the final illsutrations.

Always an inspiration to me pupii, can't wait to see this one in expose 2.

Consider yourself plugged, though for you this is what, a once a month thing?

07 July 2003, 08:59 AM

he seems to have a little less detail than his wife ?

07 July 2003, 08:59 AM
awsome , great character
he has lots of personality
:applause: :applause: :applause:

Monacle(sp?) Is the word you're looking for

07 July 2003, 09:10 AM
Very nice work indeed. I would just like to see a bit more lighting on his right side, so that the squinting eye is more easily seen. It really adds a lot to the character and atm I can't easily distinguish it in the render. The portrait painting style fits really nice too :)

07 July 2003, 09:12 AM

:( Asszem soha.

07 July 2003, 09:13 AM
first of all great character, he looks like a fat owl!

since none of the others have brought this up: the white blouse part looks like clay. the bend should be more clothlike imo.
maybe add some displacementmap and or bumpmap to take care of that part.

otherwise: greate character and lighting+texturing.

any plans for animation?

07 July 2003, 09:13 AM
 :applause:

07 July 2003, 09:22 AM
I agree with Khepri, the white shirt definatly needs some sort of bumpmap for the cloth texture, as it is now it looks kinda like paper to me. Also, with such a strong light on his left you'd think you could see more room features. It would help to just illustrate the setting in the background since you established something with the reflection in his eyes (map or actual objects?). Other than that its great.

07 July 2003, 09:22 AM
Great work, especially the topology..... ;)

Rendering looks really well executed as well

07 July 2003, 09:47 AM

Rohadt jó!!! Beszarás... :)

Csak gratulálni tudok!

07 July 2003, 09:48 AM
wow, simply perfect. Very original, and a great finish. You also have a lot of attention to details: the eyes, the hair, materials in general, but what suprise me overall is the heavy coherence between the personality of the character and the style/treatment of the shot.

...and I love how the fatty dewlap is deformed by the clothes and the turning head.:applause: :applause:

07 July 2003, 09:51 AM
Impressive. He really looks like a blue-blooded earl

07 July 2003, 09:53 AM

07 July 2003, 11:59 AM
Wow, the resemblance of an owl is so very present. Incredible.

07 July 2003, 12:01 PM
Don't really have words, your work alwyas amazes me. But this almost made me fall of my chair. Superb!!!!!

07 July 2003, 12:23 PM
Wow, this is truly inspirational, you have a very nice style going there. I love the eyes and the brows especially but it's all good. If you did a short with this or a whole movie in this style you would have a winner I think...

Btw- you should consider making posters of some of your images, I'd like to have ladybird and earl on my wall!

Keep it up!

07 July 2003, 01:09 PM
what can I say ???? Your images always make me want to cry...... how can someone be so good?....good modeling , amazing concepts , killer final product......

Can't you post something really bad, just for change?????

07 July 2003, 01:15 PM
Absolutely Jaw Dropping work

07 July 2003, 01:31 PM
Another great work!!
Got any tutorials on texturing with body-Paint?

07 July 2003, 01:37 PM
A lot of this great work that gets posted on CGTalks is obviously great.

It is posted and then followed by a long list of "Hey that's great!"

I don't know about anyone else but I am more intersted in the details on how this was accomplished and what was inpiration.

That takes me to my question, is there a way to do a text search on threads looking for key words instead of reading 10 pages of WOW!

I would like to search by Modeling - Texturing - Inspiration.

I am not an expert on managing threads.

Also it would be nice to just sort the list just to see the comments by the Artist/user who posted the initial Picture.

07 July 2003, 01:49 PM
DUDE.... totally amazing..... totally insperational.... thanks also for the wireframe... helps me out :)

07 July 2003, 02:42 PM
very very cool. now you need to do one of the family portraits with the canvas feel to it, ohh yea. :)

nice work.

07 July 2003, 03:18 PM
Magnificant! I find it creepy ...

07 July 2003, 03:25 PM
I love this. Just friggin' love it.

I love when people utilize 3D to make not reality, but reflections of reality, or imitations of it. As in this instance, a creature that looks tangible, but is in no way possible. He's got a great feeling to him, not to mention your texturing is great.

Kudos Kudos Kudos. I can learn much from you, please start up a tutorial.

07 July 2003, 03:48 PM
i love it very much... aspecially the style.

I never think of cinema4D can do such a great job.:surprised

07 July 2003, 03:53 PM

07 July 2003, 04:45 PM

07 July 2003, 06:12 PM
Awsome, would love to see those 2 in one fancy render :]

07 July 2003, 07:13 PM
wow, you did it again man! You make my day everytime you post one of your images... this is absolutely amazing. True quality in 3d-art shows in originality; that's what you have, and that's what art is all about IMHO... You're Circus Maximus Irritans has been sitting on my desktop for 2 months now, and it still amazes me!

How did you go along making the hair in the end? (I read you thread about having problems with that)

One small thing though (I feel you should know this), I noticed that the chain goes through his shirt (blouse?):

or is that intentional?

anyway, keep on creating things like this. I for one am your biggest fan:thumbsup: . I'd also love to see one of your movies in the cinema:)

07 July 2003, 07:28 PM
Awesome style and detail!

07 July 2003, 07:52 PM
Splendid, marvelous! Just love the subtle details in this one.... Simplier than his wife, but same mood, and same presence... great work!!
do you plan to create the whole family?

07 July 2003, 08:04 PM
the colors (texture) and detail is just amazing, and the eyes  makes him look more alive.... i especially like that pimpcane it looks soo real

07 July 2003, 08:15 PM
I like a very much! love the owl like look to him, nice textures very cool, can't wait to see more

07 July 2003, 08:23 PM
I love it! I love it so hard!!!
I wish I could make eyes like that, they are so awesome!
jesus, great work man!

07 July 2003, 09:31 PM

Very inspiring, I love it, how it all just fits together, the character design, style, mood, etc. I remember seeing the Lady Bird done in Cinema 4D, the instant I saw this, I thought of it, and of course, its by the same person and a companion piece! Makes me seriously think about Cinema as a future 3D app to move to.

I've read good things about Bodypaint...would you say it made this kind of detailed texturing go easier and smoother than...?? (If you can even compare with other apps or methods, if you've used others). Of couse I realize the end result is really the skill and talent of the artist, I guess I'm talking workflow, speed and ease of use.

Just beautiful stuff!....and I second the idea for a portrait of their Baby Chick. ;) Even a nice full family portrait? Then their immediate relatives, and neighbors and mayor of the town, and an animated tale of the goings-on of their lives, like when that suspicious travelling salesman, the always grinning, tomcat-like, Mr. James Q. Cheshire, Esq., comes through town. :D

edit: hmm...maybe these characters would be living in a mansion or castle actually?...ah well, just an idea!

07 July 2003, 10:27 PM
Critique? You want a critique? How 'bout I just sit back and enjoy looking at a finely crafted and realized piece of art?

07 July 2003, 11:05 PM
Great work.

This creatures you create looks living ones.

Superb mesh and the materials session!

CONGRATS!

07 July 2003, 12:13 AM

beautiful textures & lighting too--

07 July 2003, 10:45 AM
*jawdrop --- Madness

Really detailled model you got there :)

07 July 2003, 11:08 AM
Really love Earl and his wife...looks like a painting.
Would really like to see the texture maps if it is possible.

07 July 2003, 11:44 AM

Geez, I just love it! I wonder how they looked like when they were young. A wedding picture maybe? :D

Sorry english speakers.
Elképeszto"en jó figurák, öröm látni, hogy kishazánk ilyen mu"vészekkel büszkélkedhet! :)

07 July 2003, 12:15 PM
Great character...
personality really comes through. awesome!
i wanna model like that!!!:banghead:

07 July 2003, 01:25 PM
Mr Kite - Well, the chain doesn't clip into shirt when it's rendered. Ever think the wireframe is just the low-poly version of a sub-div model? Heh.

Great job. Should make it look painterly like an oil painting.. then I can post it on my wall and call it "antique art". lol

At least then my wall will have something other than a clock that's battery died on me... lol

07 July 2003, 01:58 PM
Inspirational stuff :)
boy id love to see an animation with your two bird characters.

07 July 2003, 02:14 PM

Great Great Work!!!

07 July 2003, 01:02 AM
 Király!!
Egyszerű és nagyszerű!
A texturázás nagyon ott van.
Igazából a bevilágítás érdekelne, nem tudnál valami egyszerű leírást adni róla? Sok fényforrást használtál? stb?

 :buttrock: :applause:

07 July 2003, 02:23 AM

07 July 2003, 05:18 AM
really great's just so nice when someone does a fantasy character and make it looks like something made of flesh, and you do it man!!!

yeah you're probably rigth there... I enhanced the rendered picture in photoshop (gamma to get more contrast) and it's good in that one. Anyway, Fendrik Peter is the man :buttrock:
It's just something I noticed... thought I should share!

07 July 2003, 05:02 PM
Fantastic...though....hang on......isn't that lovable old cabbie Charlie Slater from Eastenders???

Great work!

07 July 2003, 09:23 PM
sweet!!

great job on it

07 July 2003, 10:07 PM
You MUST get them in a portrait together! That would be kickin'!

Great work. I guess I'd like to see the lashes a bit thicker, the facing one in particular. However, it's outstanding work nonetheless.

07 July 2003, 10:19 PM

I like these two charactors you did (Earl Bird and Lady Bird). I think they're pretty darn original and I love how you combined that neat weirdness with such an authentic period piece look.

Great Work !

I wish there was more work like this out there. It's really an inspiration.

08 August 2003, 08:01 AM
it is amazing. i would love a link to see more of your work

Nice image man C4D rocks but you rock more :)

08 August 2003, 04:02 PM
cool ... just cool. love your texture.

08 August 2003, 12:33 PM
Wee bit behind on everything these days, but I'm catching back up :) Did you know, your little old lady was one of the more popular Expose collector's card? And this would've been the same any bet. Totally dig how you blended human features to that of a bird. The colors/lighting look fantastic as per usual, but I can't help but think the textures are bit on the low res side in this pic. Anyhoo

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Nice work!

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame ( - which you are now placed

P.S. Please email me @ so I can send you the award .psd file

Fantastic. I've been a fan of your gallery on renderosity for quite some time (your snail sat on my work computer's desktop background for quite a while). You guys need to stop doing such good work in C4D, otherwise those of us using other apps might be looking for new jobs. :surprised

Simply alive! One of the most living cg cretures I've seen to date.
It's incredible the level of humanity you're able to give to your remainds me of the firsts cartoons prouced:even a b/w static image can produce the overall sense of motion and the consistency of the various surfaces.

Really, really inspiring work. You are taking C4D at new levels.

i think everything was done right...good job...also i'm wondering if you started modeling an owl first then midway decided to turn it into a person?...the characters face has the structure of an owl.
