View Full Version : Character: fat man in some little wings

hey all, this is a model I'm doing real quick this weekend to use in a compositing project. I was thinking of the clown from spawn when I started it, but I kind of ran with the idea, so here it is:
using maya 5.0, mostly pushing verts for 7 hours so far.
I know the topology sucks, but he doesn't have to move much if at all. C&C please.

about the topology. You already said that your topology sucks
but you shoul get used to model with good topology.
If you understand it once you are much faster and you
have more opportunities animating your character. If you
have good topology it is much easier to model blendshapes
I think you know it already but here is a rough sketch how you
should model the face.
hope this helps

What first catches my eye is the fat isn't forming correctly. I know, fun stuff, but find some refrence picts of fat dudes. Look at the way the fat builds up on the human body and the weight of it. Right now, especially work on adding some real logical form to the neck/chin area and gut. Those arms are going to need to be built up a bit too. I'd also follow the advise of goro to clean up your mesh some..good luck, a fatty is always a good challenge!

hey y'all, thanks for the replies.
about the fat rolls (specifically the neck) I set it up like that so that rigging will be smoother. I plan on squishing it down into a more "fat roll" position, with the head sitting much lower.
I am getting ready to add "fatness" to the limbs today, and then to do the hands/feet...also need some sort of ear.
here's an hour of work on the topology this morning:
I need some help here, how should the muscles come together between the pec and the lat?

here's an update, testing out a new belly size/shape. I still think he's gonna lose more weight - could even go for a body builder-ish body. or something else entirely...no deadline == no finish....
also started new legs, instead of a cylinder I started with 3 spheres - giving much quicker fat man results! yeah....and there was much rejoicing...
