07-27-2003, 05:07 PM

I work professionaly in the RPG/POD novel field. This is absolutley fantastic. You should not have a problem getting work even as remote as Russia.

PM me and I will send you all the links I can for the book companies and RPG companies to get you in the grain if your not already.

When I first looked at this, I thought it was Kieth Parkinsons work (see Parkinson (http://www.keithparkinson.com/) )

Excellent, you should be on book covers, as a matter of fact I know two book companies looking for new talents.

Edit: I myself work completely in Painter 7. You have to have been a traditional oil painter eh? As I was before going digital.

07-27-2003, 05:37 PM

07-27-2003, 11:48 PM
Zamechatel'naja rabota Arny! Ochen' inspiriruet. :) Sil'no napominaet skazki kotorie chital v detstve.

Gotta love the smileys on the stones. The way they are placed, below each character, it seems that they represent bad (dragon = sad smiley) and good (knight = happy smiley). Good job once again and keep up the great work! :)

That Adrian Guy
07-27-2003, 11:49 PM
no layers, one brush... oh my god.

07-27-2003, 11:51 PM
I love your work, did any body else look at his website his stuff is amazing, it rivals any of the artist that do those heavy meatal comic magazines. you should post your web site on this thread.

Wow !!!! No layers, no effects, textures, 3d and color burn

what the **** r u serous?

07-28-2003, 01:15 AM
As an avid RPG fan and resident dragon lover, I'm keen on any work that showcases this, and you did both. I must say I love the technical beauty on the ancient beast and the togs of the hero in action, it's a nice balance you accomplished bringing the new to the old and vise-versa.

The colors are also fantastic, nice choice in the pallete, the vibrance and the changing shades with the depth of the forest, truly shows you know your craft extremely well.

My one crit would be the anatomy of the dragon, taking a look at the left knee (his left) the foreshortening is a bit off, he knee is practically touching his feet, which would be rather difficult the way you're portraying it, right now it appears he has no calf there and if he did, it would be seriously injured :).

Aside from that it's absolutely stunning! But that Dragon would make mince meat of the hero in a real fight ;)

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Incredible work!

upon receiving this award, it guarantees you a spot in the cgtalk gallery hall of fame (http://gallery.cgtalk.com) - which you are now placed

07-28-2003, 03:28 PM
this is fantastic. Rather than just saying "good job" I'm interested in asking if you'd put together some sort of online digital painting tutorial for your specific method of digital painting in painter 7.

granted more than likely, most methods are extremely similar, but if you've got a tutorial, or one that you followed, I'd love to see it.

fantastic work, my friend.

07-28-2003, 03:54 PM
Incredible work - honestly some of the best work I've seen.

I noticed you had art from Sea Dogs II - so I'm sure you are aware of the Pirates of the Caribbean game which is based on Sea Dogs. Did you create any of the art for the new Pirates game?

07-28-2003, 04:04 PM
u must be kidding.. one stone kills all! the only thing that bothers me.. since the dragon is blasting the guy with a thuderous stream of frost, and its hitting directly to the guy, why arent there any affect on it?

07-28-2003, 04:24 PM
Breath Taking :O

no crits at all, its beautiful

07-28-2003, 04:49 PM
wow, i juz got to say this is a great piece of work! bravo!!! the colours and so on all very fantasy feeling! welldone!:applause:

07-28-2003, 08:19 PM
I agree with ElysiumGX. You're work is absolutely amazing. On your Russian site, you've got some sample of Sea Dogs work. Was it actually used in the game?

:applause: :applause: :applause:
Man, you have GOT to post a tutorial on your painting style in Painter. Its trully amazing!

07-28-2003, 08:33 PM
very nice work

however if i were to critique i would say that its almost TOO saturated with color. This saturation. the fact that the focal point of the peice is centered and everything, asides from some trees and foliage behind the dragon, is in focus flattens the image.

I would say do something to draw in the eye, like make the ice breath the brightest part. Something to that effect.

Other trivial criticisms would include what are those red eyes coming from under the far right tree and why is the dragon completely missing his target. It would cool to see the warrior, sword in hand, engulfed in this ice breath.

07-28-2003, 09:28 PM
you are cool man!!
awsome!!

07-29-2003, 03:16 AM
nice paint!!!
I like the feeling of light in this picture.:applause:

07-29-2003, 03:44 AM
great piece of work. Is it just me or does the dragons legs look really weird. The angle of the left leg looks almost broken and he had to sit down.

Dunno prolly just my brain doing weird things :D

07-29-2003, 06:53 AM
WOW! Your site speaks for itself. You have a great sense of style.

07-29-2003, 10:48 AM
Really, really great stuff, mate.

Jeez, Im trying a bit of illustrative work, but seeing this kind of quality is just plain disheartning.

Loved the website work, especially the girl looking out from behind the door.

Hi Anry,

Can you please tell us more about your background? Like how long you are using painter, do / did you follow any courses or schools on painting? Are there books on how to paint that you recomment?

Regards, Frido

08-02-2003, 06:09 AM
It's awesome how it's a dragon that breaths frost instead of fire. Very nice artwork, and good use of your painting techniques. Keep it up!

08-02-2003, 02:10 PM
You must be a classically trained artist. Great composition, the light and shadows detail is incredibly done, and really gives life to the work. Also your choice of colors is also very interesting. Most artists use a 1-2 color palette, but you definitely know how to use color.

Would you be willing to share with us how you started this piece and your workflow? I'm very interested, and I think most people here are also interested too.

Great job! And thanks for sharing with us!

08-02-2003, 05:35 PM
Its absolutely beautiful, style-wise. This may have already been mention as I didn't read all prior posts, but I'm not sure what's going on with that left foot. It looks like it isn't attached to the leg, and it also looks disproportionately large.

08-03-2003, 08:12 PM
wow man, great dragon, and I see u've put a very cool new picture on ur site about sins. I'd have to say its the funniest of all ur pictures.

08-06-2003, 07:21 PM
Decible, I'm not sure what you are talking about. The left leg looks fine to me. You forget that you are looking at a 3/4 perspective on that leg... so the top corner points match up in perspective to the body ... and it attaches correctly. The shading on the leg should tell you that.

08-06-2003, 07:49 PM
hey dude..this is great...if i had any comment to say to help this piece, i would mabey rethink the texture on the tree in the back right. this might just be personal opinion. great stuff. i am really thinking of exploring painter a lot more:)

08-17-2003, 12:23 PM
Wee bit behind on everything these days, but I'm catching back up :) Most here know dragons are one of my fave things, and you captured the essence that is a dragon nicely here, and not only that you pushed it even further by introducing the old to the modern era, all in the while not ruining either, that alone is mastery. Then you went on the add immense depth to the image, especially the forest, I love how they gradually fall to the depth of the piece. Incredible talent only from a classically trained artist no doubt.

The only thing though, is that poor adventurer will soon die a quick and horrible death if he doesn't have some kinda magic aura or fire magic or something heheh

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Inspiring work!
