View Full Version : Holes in geometry

Hello all, my name is Franco, im from Argentina, Buenos Aires.
This is my first post here; my english is not good, but i hope you guys can understand me.
I have been modelling for some time; but now i discovered modo and its awesome.
However i have some problems when modelling in modo; as you may see in the attached image.
I've started modelling an aircraft from a cube, then Sub with the tab key and i got that nasty "holes" you can see through.
My question is how do i fix that holes? (

Also, how do i align an object (center) with another object?

It looks to me like some of your polygons are in SubD mode and other are not. Make sure that all connected polys are either one or the other. To check this, go to Statistics Panel, arrow down "Polygons", then "Type", and click the "+" next to "Subdivs" to select all your SubDs. Then press "Tab" to convert them all to regular polys.

Now, deselect everything by clicking somewhere else in the viewport.

And finally hit "Tab" again to convert back to SubDs.

One single mesh item can contain polygons that are both SubD and regular polygons. Again, the problem you're having is that some polys are one kind, and some are the other. So some are being smoothed, and others aren't. They need to all be the same for these "holes" to disappear. There are a couple of ways to do that, and I outlined one of those ways above.

its important to have a nice mesh topology; so now im practicing that.
