So, I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm going to do it anyway. My entry is tentatively titled "Maid to Kill," and I'm going for a black and white, rich graphic feel--I guess like Sin City or Renaissance, but I'm hoping to stay away from the rotoscoped look.

I plan on doing backgrounds in 3D possibly painting over them and drawing all the action and characters in a 2D graphics program, importing frames into an editor as a numbered sequence. I've looked at some freeware 2d animation packages, but I think Photoshop will work as well as anything I've seen.

So anyway, thanks for viewing and comments are always appreciated.

I tried a couple of seconds of animation based on this still. The result was pretty poor, so I think I'll probably film live action as reference for animating, at least until I get the hang of things. Next up is an animatic, to work out the shots and cuts precisely for production.

Edit: Apparently, I'm retarded and did not read the FAQ closely enough about image uploads.

@pierzak: Well, I felt fine about my storyboards, but now, you got me second-guessing :p . Mostly I wanted to commit the sequence in my mind to paper as quickly as possible before I forgot it. There are several shots that need to be worked out better, but I wanted to establish the global picture and pacing first.

@ximage and OZ: Thanks, guys. In the face of doubt and obstacles, it's very nice to have supporting comments. It's motivating. I need to pay it forward.

Anyway, change of plan--I decided to start design and modeling of the scene and get that done first, then move to the animatic. Will post images when they are ready.

I know what you mean. I didnt want to sound offensive in any way. I felt rather guilty for not spending much time on drawing nice colorfull images.
My storyboard is also just an outline of the trailer and I am taking it form there.
Good luck

oha, looks like we decided both to use a similar style. Maybe i have a look on your work and steal one or two good things :D

Your story and especially your maincharacter looks very unique and promising. Do you want to go more into a comic/exaggerated- or into a realistic/film noir-Look?

so long
