Latest Update: Final Image: "Agents Always Get The Girl" (

This is my early concept sketch. I'm kinda taking myself out of the running for best character with this one, but I think every secret agent has 2 things: cool gadgets, and a beautiful woman, and this shows that.

This is what will be my agents Walther P99, modified to suit this new age secret agent of course.

I haven't had much time to work on this, but this is what I've got so far.

I have to say your modeling looks slick, you pulled off the walther curves perfectly. Why the two ejector ports though?

This is my modeled gun. No textures yet, just a bump map. I'm thinking its going to be black, with a few blue LED-like lights.

very nice modeling of the gun..seems like the same model i choose for mine , but u did it well done..haha, very cool !

I really like the concept. The scene will make for some great lighting. I look foward to see how you set this up. Great model of the gun as well.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to start having more time to work on this, so hopefully I'll start knocking out props a lot faster. And the second port isn't necessarily an ejection port, just something to change up the shape a bit from today's typical gun.

Since I don't have a character to model (the figures will be a photographic element), I'm putting a lot of work into some of the props that will be on the table. I have an idea of the layout I want, but I'm making them all pretty high quality models so that I can move things around without worrying about losing quality in the closer objects.

Oh, and I'm still working on the shaders for the gun. It still seems too fake to me.

07 July 2009, 10:54 AM (

I threw the props I've got so far into a scene to start getting an idea of the composition. Lighting is going to be tricky, but once I get it right I think its going to be pretty sic.

07 July 2009, 12:58 AM (

I've been busy lately, so this isn't much of an update, but it's what I've got so far. Still plenty to do, and lighting is going to be my biggest hurdle.

This is my latest test render. I've modeled the bra and bowtie, but I'm waiting until I know exactly where I want them before putting them in the scene. My modeling to do list now still includes photos next to the camera, more passports, and some small odds and ends on the table. Then I'll add a bed and some curtains in the back, along with stand in silhouette of the figures, followed by finalizing materials, textures, and lighting. And of course there will be some post in photoshop. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

So I'm this much further after another day. The only major element left to place on the table is the bowtie. Then I'm gonna finalize the lighting and textures. Then its into Photoshop for the actual figures (the current ones are just a stand in) and some other post work. Any feedback at this point would be great. Thanks.

I'm just about ready to do my final render. Then its just some photoshop work and I'll be all done.

Being a secret agent isn't about explosions, it isn't about being chased, and it isn't about hiding around the corner from your target. It's about being charismatic, having the coolest gadgets, and always getting the girl.

Done in Maya, rendered with Mental Ray, and finished in Photoshop.

I created this image using Maya, rendered it with Mental Ray, and finished it in Photoshop. It was my first CGChallenge, and I had a really great time working on it. I can't wait for the next one.
