Hallais and thanks for dropping by! I really need to protect my agent as much as I can, do you have the faintest Idea what they could do to those poor spies over there, if cought?

06 June 2009, 01:33 PM
:curious: Extra-terrestrial spies?!?! We want to know more! ;)
06 June 2009, 05:40 PM
Hi again and thanks for visiting! The concept is very simple, yet intriquate, it envolves a spaceship and then ...
Hei buddy and thanks! I always keep my promises! and more updates are coming, promise!
Hi and thank you, I'm glad you liked it so far, there are no details nor texturing as yet, I'll leave that out til I got the characters ready! and you are right, except the Oswald part and of course without the conspiracy part, otherwaise, you nailed it!
Hehe, it's so hard to keep it secret with such a tough crowd like you guys, Now that the cat's out, let's model the rest!
Keen to see the rest of your concept, dude!
06 June 2009, 07:11 PM
Hey Mathias, nice to see you again !
06 June 2009, 02:57 PM
Nice little robot spy there I guess. We still don't know the full story. Going sci-fi secret agent? Spying on what I wonder.
06 June 2009, 05:33 PM
Cool model so far, like the skull style shape on it :D Cant wait to see what is your whole concept for this challenge :D Cheers my friend!
06 June 2009, 06:41 PM
Hi again and thanks a lot for visiting my thread, I'll be watching your progress too!
Good luck, buddy!
Thank you for dropping by and the nice words! It's actually supposed to be a ship, I haven't gone into detailing much, maybe after the characters are done!
Good luck to you too!
Dear dear kompis; I've been searching all over for your rntry, obviously you are busy and I really hope to meet again in another challenge!
THanks for the encouragement!
06 June 2009, 06:47 PM
"Ebe(n)" as in "extra-terrasterial biological entity"!
I tried to model this only from images in my head, from what I've seen here and there!
Still working on the body.
Suggestions are welcome!
06 June 2009, 08:10 PM
Very cool alien model there. Well done so far.
06 June 2009, 09:53 PM
nice I like what u have so far .......keep revealing :arteest:
06 June 2009, 11:38 PM
Yeah very cool and interesting alien head! I like the ears! ;) Indeed keep posting more updates! :)
06 June 2009, 12:30 PM
I agree with the others - that's an excellent alien. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished and posed because you always pose your characters with a lot of realism. Keep up the great work
06 June 2009, 03:55 PM
Thank you mate, I'm glad you liked it so far, I'll post the full body pics real soon!
Thanks a lot, It's really been a great experience working on this character, wait until you hear what's going on in their heads, hehe, spoiler!
Hey dude and thanks again for the encouragement, I liked the ears and the node the best, but there's a lot work remaining with texturing and normal maps! Let's see how it works!
Dear friend, thanks you for expressing confidence, and of course your invaluable support!
Having a couple of fingers comparing with "Homosapien sapian", I guess this one can easily be rigged and ready, and I need that time boost, cause there are many, many of them in the scene!
Thank you all guys, I'm full of inspiration now!
06 June 2009, 04:41 PM
"It" might look a bit stiff right now, but It's just the T-pose, I'll relax the positure after the rigging, and post some more closeups after the texturing and shading!
Thanks for viewing!
06 June 2009, 05:33 PM
hello man, well i think this alien guy is looking good so far, it gives me the impression to be a short person size because the complexion, is he going to be tall or short?
anyway good start mate
06 June 2009, 11:17 AM
Thanks a lot mate, glad you liked it!
It's common belief that "greys" have a very short build, 150-155 cm, but it would be difficult to say in this particular scene, as there are no points of reference, so they can be as short or as tall as the viewer wnats them to be!
Have a nice weekend!
06 June 2009, 02:57 PM
Looking good my friend, can't wait to see him posed! What pose will he have?! Keep it up!
06 June 2009, 11:07 PM
Another really good update. The proportions look good and it looks alien enough to be an alien! I notice it has 4 fingers on each hand (if you count the thumbs) but only 3 toes on each foot. Was that intentional? (However, that's not a serious issue for me because I haven't personally seen any greys lately!) Keep going buddy. It's coming along really well
06 June 2009, 02:06 PM
Hi there brother!
You've made a very nice twist in the concept of secret agent... but if we believe in their existence we should also be aware that they are, by definition, the ultimate secret-agent...
Be cool I'll be monitoring you from my secret command base (only the guys from the pizza delivery know the address...)
This message will self-destruct in about 5 seconds... 4... 3... 2... 1... (please add sound effects and turn off your monitor for greater realism... C4 is expensive, ok?)
06 June 2009, 06:20 PM
Hey buddy and thanks! Rigging is now finished and I'm working on the texturing! there will be plenty of these "Greys" in there, you know how I like my scenes, crowded! and of course, there is going to be different poses for everyone, this is a great experiment for me to do non-human poses! Glad to see you're watching!
Thanks a lot for the nice words and encouragement, pal! Your attention to details, be it your own creations or replies to others works' is one of your best qualities! Actually I didn't think much about three fingers on the feet, it kind of turned that way without much "plausible concern", I guess four would make it weard, and I didn't try it even, but I'm really glad you pointed it out, it made me go back and have a second look, and as a result, I modified both the tigh and size of the feet, and now it feels much better! Owe you one on that!
I believe you are celebrating your freedom by now, well deserved!
Yeah, those beings are such smart and quiet race, but do not despair, the "agency" has a great plans to infiltrate the whole bunch, more to come!
And remember, your adress is still listed with the "Silencers", no reason to worry, just for you to know!
Be well, Maxian brother!
06 June 2009, 06:52 PM
Cool character ! :D like a lot the head design for the EBN , great model for sure. Agree with Mark , the proportions and design make this model a total credible alien :)
Waiting for more updates. Cheers my friend!
06 June 2009, 03:28 AM
Hey Mathias, i'm looking your progress since i started here, so plz, tell us more about your idea... :D i really like ET theme, and your models are great... i just think if your character is some evil, legs could be longer
loonking forward, goog luck!
07 July 2009, 12:16 PM
Dear friend, thanks a lot for your always cheerful and sincere comments and encouragement! There has been very little work lately, but it's picking up very soon and I hope I can make some more updates real soon!
ps, we should really do some collaboration work later, after this contest is finished, I'm so looking forward to that!
Wow, thanks a lot! I'm so happy to hear that you are likeing this and following the process!
About the lenght of the legs, thanks for the advice, really! They were actually longer when I started this concept, and longer neck too, then I changed it as I went by, to give it more softer, comic appearance, but I know there will be more modifications after the texturing and lighting, so I will definitely remember you advice on this!
07 July 2009, 01:14 PM
Am I right ?
07 July 2009, 04:04 PM
Wow, what a nice poly flow, I'm seeing a good modelling for a good pose, and nice texturing
keep the work on mate!
07 July 2009, 04:39 PM
Yes, my friend, aliens from "Zeta Reticuli"!
For once, I wanted to do something "out of this world", hehe, too much pollution here, and too many seagulls!
Thanks a lot buddy, really glad you are watching this, the base mesh isn't much really, simple and light, around 4K, but the rigging went unexpectedly smooth!
More updates in the next week, I hope!
07 July 2009, 09:59 AM
More updates only in the next week??!!
Get to work... how can we uncover the undercover aliens if you don't make them?
Be cool bror!
07 July 2009, 07:37 AM
These are not laserguns, but "Terraforming devices" used for converting unstable sour planets into farming colonies!
More to come!
07 July 2009, 07:40 AM
cool :wip: more mystery ....keep going ;)
07 July 2009, 01:19 PM
Hahaha! I'm intrigued! :curious: Keep it up!
07 July 2009, 06:47 PM
These are not laserguns, but "Terraforming devices" used for converting unstable sour planets into farming colonies!
More to come!
wow pretty dangerous stuff, please handle with care man! :D
07 July 2009, 11:13 PM
Cool devices :D And I´m very intrigued about your concept :D Cool work and waiting for more clues abut your idea :D Cheers my friend!!
07 July 2009, 02:17 AM
Hei buddy, and thanks again for stopping by, it's all clearing up now, a couple more updates, and then ...
Hallais, and thanks you my friend, nothing compared to your magnificent architecture wonders!
Thanks Amigo, yes, those devices are somewhat nuclear, very danerous!
Cheers my friend! I'm so glad you are watching this thread, gives me more motivation!
Be cool, amigo!
07 July 2009, 08:14 AM
some nice modeling skills you got here, I'm very curious how the parts will look assembled (sure will look good tough :D) keep them coming.
07 July 2009, 08:10 AM
:curious: Have we been terraformed?
Are greys the seeders of our planet? Don't lose the next updates... :)
Great work so far bror! Knowing (I used this word without any intention or related to the movie... :hmm: ) you, this will be a big scene with some cool poses and colors... can't wait to see more!
07 July 2009, 04:15 PM
This concept is cool.
I have to say though that the aliens shoulders look broad to me.
Keep it up!
07 July 2009, 07:27 AM
Hi and thanks for the nice words, I'm glad you are interested, will try to assemble a good scene!
Good luck with your concept too!
Ola Irmanő! Glad you liked it so far, there has been kind of sluggish process with this work, but things are definitely going to change, and I hope you will like the outcome!
Thanks a lot for visiting this thread, and I appreciate the comment, about the shoulderes, you are right, I actually put an extra bone just for the shoulder, helping me to increase the possibilities for posing, I will definitely remember your input when I'm gonna try to adjust the bones!
07 July 2009, 07:34 AM
That's how Didi (Dexter's sister) would put it!
Here is a lighting test, with the first texturing outcast!
All maps painted 4K, then downsized to 2K, with the exception of disp- and bump maps!
Still working on spec map for the closeups!
Have a nice weekend all!
07 July 2009, 01:10 PM
Great updates. I love watching how you pose your characters. Keep up the great work buddy. I'm looking forward to seeing this scene develop
07 July 2009, 04:26 AM
Hi Mark and thanks a lot mate, it warms my heart to know that you are liking this line of work, although you are missed a lot in this challenge, you still keep stopping by and provide us with great coomments and support!
I took your advice and had a closer look at alien's feet, which made me make some dramatic changes to the anatomy, and now, I'm much happier with the result!
Hope you will like the rest of this story as well!
07 July 2009, 06:02 AM
cool update I like how he looks alot .............keep going
That's how Didi (Dexter's sister) would put it!
07 July 2009, 08:43 AM
Really cool update!! Like a lot the textures for the alien character, and the test for the lighting looks really great. That touch of green light puts a total X-files feel on the alien, cool!! :D Cheers kompis!!
07 July 2009, 06:31 AM
Good morning and thanks a lot! Glad you liked it!
Mucho gracia amigo! You know, green light and aliens are almost inseparable! I'll have three different main light colors in the final scene! Hope you will like it!
07 July 2009, 08:12 AM
We want more updates!!! :bounce:
07 July 2009, 09:51 AM
Texturing so far!
As there will be more elements in the sky, like stars and planets, there will be more reflections on the metal and (plexi) glasses, and for the terrain, more craters and pebbles in the last render, perhaps a few bigger rocks as well!
Have a nice weekend everyone!
07 July 2009, 09:16 PM
Really great landing pod :D very original design on it! The textures look really nice. Maybe some sort of glowing light on the bottom part of the machine, to puts a note of "turned on" and in functions :) Only a comment. Great work! Waiting for more updates! Cheers my friend!
07 July 2009, 09:55 PM
That's your style, lovely ambience.
cheering you up !
keep the energy on my friend 8)
07 July 2009, 11:02 PM
Long time since I visited this thread :) Everything looks good here. "The Eagle has landed" :)
07 July 2009, 07:01 AM
so this is the space ship that our alien agent will come from .....right ??? ........if so I want the prize I solved it mouhahahahahaa ..... unless it already been solved lol  ..........keep going
07 July 2009, 12:36 PM
Looking good my friend! I really like the textures of the ship and the planet surface, great feel to it! I might have been gone a while and might have missed it, but what will be your final composition? Angle? Etc.? Keep it up!
07 July 2009, 02:54 PM
Wow, thanks guys!
The mail problem will solve soon, just give it a couple months time, and it's all alright!
I really appreciate your input, I had some purple glow both downunder and along the top of the vessel, but it was so faded out it dissappeared behind the specular, but I will definitely make it stronger in the next update, cause what you are saying, makes a lot of sense!
I'm really glad you liked it so far, please feel free to make suggestions or critique anytime!
Heyhey and thanks a lot for the support! I was very keen to post the image the night before 40th. anniversary of the moon-landing, not sure if many noticed, well you did!
Go Nasa Go, next stop Mars!
Haha, your comments really make my day and I enjoy them a lot!
I guess the next update will reveal a lot, or maybe it complicates things, hmmm, let's see!
Thanks mate and I'm glad you liked the surface, the final comp will be as in the sketch, perhaps with a little less focal distortion! I will start working on it in the coming days!
You guys rock!
07 July 2009, 02:01 AM
It looks great. You've got that outer-space lighting looking right too (tends to be harsh and coming from a single source, and without an atmosphere to scatter it so the shadows are hard)
One of the things I love about 3D is that it can convey scenes you don't see every day, and that's exactly what you're doing. It's a really nicely designed space craft. For some reason the texture seems to be a bit stretched or something along the ground so maybe a small number of slightly larger simple-mesh rocks can be loosely scattered across it to give it some real geometry and add a little bit of interest.
Nice touch to remember the anniversary of the moon landing too!
07 July 2009, 06:29 AM
Hey! Nice progress - the texture for the pod looks really good and the whole mood of the scene is very space-y :)
I agree with Mark on having some small stones on the ground could add more reality to it.
goody, goody
07 July 2009, 06:45 AM
Thanks a lot mate for nice words and again, very close observation on the various details and of course, shortcomings on my side, that's th type of critique I value the most!
You are absolutely right about the stretching issue, and I really don't have a viable sollution for that, other than what you suggested, adding more real geometry to cover the bad parts, and that's what I should be doing before the final render.
The terrain texture is still pretty much a WIP and I would like to try other versions before the final, so I will definitely remember this comment!
thanks for the support and cheering up!
Hey sis and thanks for stopping by, really encouraging to know that you are watching the progress on this thread, I will definitely adress the streching problem the best way I can before the end!
Glad you liked the space environment so far, even I would try to make it a bit more psychadelic and fictional for this scene! Hope you will approve the next steps as well, and hey, for the next challenge, no more excuses, your participation is too valuable to miss out!
Have anice summer moreover!
07 July 2009, 07:53 AM
I admit his body proportions are way off, but he was chosen out just because of that, for this particular mission!
More details coming up!
07 July 2009, 08:16 AM
Hi there bror!
I've sent you a mail today before I read your post... ok, some months!
I'm glad to see that you're going steady towards the final revelation... this character will be the principal guy, right?
So far nothing to say, I expect your next and probably (as usual) cool pose on this guy!
07 July 2009, 12:41 AM
glad to see your progress, cute models, time to position those and hit render amigo,
hurry up !
un saludo 8)
07 July 2009, 10:36 AM
Ola amigo and thanks for stopping by!
Is the last character the spy? Is he the supervisor? Or is he being spied on? We still don't know much, except that he's an important person, but again, aren't we all?
Thanks a lot my friend, I'm also looking forward to the day I press the "final render" button!
Should be a glorious day!
Glad you liked the progress so far!
Un saludo amigo!
07 July 2009, 08:56 PM
Nice model my friend :D Think if he is an alien the proportions are not bad, maybe you can make a bit more large arms, but is a minor detail. You need to put all the gas on your concept, really few days for the deadline :D Cheers kompis!
07 July 2009, 11:40 PM
I'm loving the model, looks very clean! I agree a bit with Fernando though about his arms looking short...but then again, those are compared to human proportions, who knows about alien anatomy, right?! Can't wait to see him posed!
07 July 2009, 07:09 AM
Christopher and Fernando;
Thanks guys, you are right about the creepy proportions, it doesn't look good at all, and will be fixed right away, I'm glad you pointed that out!
Most of the work on this concept has been very quick and hasty, without enough time for reconsideration and proper detail work, as a matter of fact, I wasn't sure to enter in the first place, with a two months dealine and summer vacaion in mind, but there are no excuses, I really need to finish this and I ask for your critique whenever you feel there's time for one!
Be cool guys!
07 July 2009, 06:34 AM
First line up!
The color mood is still pretty much WIP, until put in the scene!
And for those who buy it just for the articles;
From left to right:
-irg, and why does "HE" get to be the boss?
-Don't be silly, just look at the size of that brain, irg!
-Nah, looks like a tumor to me, irg, irg,
-Hush you imbecils, He might be tuning in on us right now, irg, forgot what happened to those poor units, two rotations ago?
-We're gonna rock this rock...
-Yeah yeah, shoobi do ba, irg, irg!
07 July 2009, 07:58 AM
Very good poses and color/textures, even if they're WIP...
Keep up man!
And nice story... so they're going to terraform something... or have they already done it? Mmmm...
07 July 2009, 08:03 AM
lol  we are gonna rock this rock  keep going mate
07 July 2009, 04:58 PM
Ola amigo, and thanks for visiting! I will add a bit of description and dialogue along with the final render, to explain about things going on in the scene! Perhaps a couple more updates and it will be ready! Hope you will keep watching this until then, there are still more suprises on the horizon!
Hehehe buddy, you are very welcome, and thanks a lot for the constant support, hope you will enjoy the rest of the story!
07 July 2009, 05:10 PM
Oh this is exciting, looking forward to their placement in the final scene
cheer you up amigo !
07 July 2009, 10:47 PM
Thanks a lot amigo! I'm glad you liked it so far! Hope you will like the rest as well!
Good luck my friend!
07 July 2009, 08:56 AM
I can´t wait! An amazing render with your own almost painting style and a good description/plot will be awsome... maybe you could even try to add the description to the scene... like a piece of newspaper or something...
off topic - check your pm
07 July 2009, 01:19 PM
Keeping the secrets to the very end huh?! ;) Can't wait for the reveal of the final image!! :bounce:
07 July 2009, 07:50 PM
Really cool work with the poses :D I can feel the weight of that big head :D, great achived my friend. The texture looks nice too. Ok, is time to see your whole composition and concept :D No more X-Files and top secrets... hahahahah kidding :D Great work and waiting for more updates! Cheers!!
08 August 2009, 07:59 PM
Heyhey kompis and thanks a lot for both comment and the PM!
The Idea about the newspaper is a bit tempting, I need to think about it a bit!
Hope you still be watching this towards the end!
Thanks for stopping by, mate, hope you are not dobble parking, hehe!
I will just try to protect the identity of the spy as long as possible, It's a tough job, you know, and he could need all the help he could get!
Gracia amigo, again, for encouragement and all the useful critique!
Glad you have liked the progress so far, the next update will be a bit more crucial, so you will get your will, my friend!
08 August 2009, 12:31 PM
updates mate .....time is running :D
08 August 2009, 08:02 AM
Hope you still be watching this towards the end!
I'm watching... but where's the updates???
Or the reply to the pm...

08 August 2009, 11:53 AM
Hi buddy, updates coming up right away, sorry for the delay, this project has been taking way too long time!
Hehe, amigo! I believe already, don't you?
Have a look at the latest Cropcircles and see; Link (http://www.earthfiles.com/)
It will be real close for the final entry, not quite what I had in mind, but I just hate leave it unfinished, so I'll cook something all in a hurry and upload it! Stay tumed brother, and most important, Be well!
08 August 2009, 11:55 AM

Chester again, and this time behind the perfect disguise for the occasion, not even his uncle would recognize him!
08 August 2009, 12:14 PM
A few close-ups of Chester, I used layered shader for his texture, with a semi-transparent second layer on top the skin layer!

Thanks buddy, yeah, I somehow made it to the end, though I wish I had better time, cause I had slightly different Ideas about the big finish, but this will do for now!
Thanks again for all the support and company, man!
Best of luck to you, and the remaining of your project!
Hallais and thanks for stopping by, I have now added a link to a bigger pic if you wish to see the whole thing, and I have to thank you for the support and encouragement!

Oh this is nice now I understand , you finished it !, and the whole concept was well done
the entire workflow was excellent.
congratulations buddy, and good luck with the judges !! 8)
08 August 2009, 06:04 PM
Congrats for your finale! :D
Like a lot your concept, and the alien looking to the secret agent has a superb gesture (something like "you dont look and smell like an alien" :D), love that part of the image. The "innocence" of the secret agent with his shovel is a really fine and funny touch.. :D Great work!
All the best !! And now, time for the tequila!! yeaaa (the aliens creatures are invited :D) Cheers kompis!!

Thank you my friend, I'm very glad you liked it, and I thank you, once again for the support you have been giving me all the way to the end, and don't worry, you will finish your concept soon enough, as a personal project as you said, and please remind me of it when finished, I really enjoyed your last work and I want to see this one as well!
Hope to meet in another challenge!
Hi kompis and thanks a lot for all the support and encouragement, and of course useful comments! As you can see, I added the engine glow effect to the vessels and it was a great Idea, thank you for that!
And you are right, it's time for celebration now, Not sure how many of those alienes will show up, you know they don't like us, primitive beings, but maybe tequila brings them over,
hehe, don't forget to bring the aluminium hat, they can easily read all your inner secrets!

Now I see it... they're terraforming us AGAIN! And by the look of stuff, we went out with a bang... ahahah!
Cool image and concept and one excellent use of colors...
Mudbox? Weren't you a Zbrush guy???
08 August 2009, 02:43 PM
Hehe, the way we are taking care of our planet, we will definitely be in need of alien terraformers soon, no doubt about it!
Thanks a lot for stopping by, I'm glad you liked the final!
In my opinion, both Mudbox And Zbrush are powerful and brilliant applications, I used Mudbox for this entire project because of its unique ability to export semi-transparent maps, and of course being able to paint directly into various channels, like diffuse, spec and more!
Be well brother!

all the way to the end! This project was much fun, mostly because of you cool guys tagging along, and I really hope to meet you and others in another challenge!

Hi, nice work.
The main issue abou the image though to me is the lack of contrast in reading the composition correctly, by it i mean specifically the ground, which i feel is too much grungy and noisy, and really cuts out the characters outline. The whole scene is lacking a bit of depth, mostly because of this issue, it looks that almost everything is at the same plane of depth, and the alien characters are almost floating, since we cant really see they're contact points.
Nice idea, but could be improved in its composition ;) Dont take this hard, but as constructive criticism :D
08 August 2009, 07:29 PM
First of all, I really appreciate your taking your valueable time and giving me your opinion about this render, this is exactly the type of constructive criticism I'm interested in!
Rendering a physically-correct scenery wasn't exactly my goal when I started planing this work in the first place, rather an alienated atmosphere, kind od different than our senses feel familiar, or even pleasing for that matter!
You see, I didn't even use DOF on the distant planet, which should fall naturally into mind, let go of the DOF on the terrain, but concerning cast-shadows, I give you that, you make a good point! Having multiple light sources and use of depth-map shadows instead of raytraced, made them quite washed out, and I didn't pay enough attention to intensify it, for the sake of binding it all together! For that one, I regret now, but I guess it's a bit too late!
Anyway, I value your input and will pay more attention in my future works!
Thanks a lot!

congratulations. Excellent result, and we can see the idea now too! I like the way we can see the secret agent after we run our eyes across the line of aliens. Looks like he's been found out. Congratulations on making it to the finish line with such a cool image.
Good luck to you buddy
