i will make more sketches.. all quick stuff- im not sure what exacly will be in final.

Story will be based in near future stylised a bit on 30' years - times of war, occupation ect. contraband... fight with evil dictator.
I will try to write this story a bit too. And later storyboard based on it.

This time i realy want to finish this entry :)

Here i didn't read a storyboard, i watched a movie because there are great drawing control and transition details and control again... By this way i was able to see how things going to be really awesome!!!

i saw some cool 30's style cars too (photos) for inspiration. Designers have realy cool ideas.
I will try to do a bit different but for sure in 30's style

Johnseventine - tx. This storyboard is rough - first try with all scenes. Im not sure about trailer ending and torture scene ending, i have some new ideas but i have to wait day or two for 'fresh eye' look on it. Hope in this week i will have storyboard and animated storyborad with time frames ready.

all cg in 3d. Only way to finish it is to not make too many details wich will not be seen - to not waste time. So i prefere to plan this better then start 3d now. From long time i didnt work in such small resolution(640) so i hope i will make all models very fast ( rednering shouldnt be too long i belive). Riggings, simulations and fx will take lot of time for sure.
After animated storyboard i will do the detailed plan and will stick to it. I know time is running fast but this week i menage for planning only.

This is looking fantasitc, if I wasn't doing my own I would have loved to offer to help you with it. You've got some unique concept ideas, soooo much work to do, cloth sim for the glove, building a ton of models... ooh, man, GOOD LUCK. Your work is exciting, I hope you can finish to the degree you wish.

if i will stick to the plan i should finish it :) . Modeling and texturing should go fast in this resolution. but simulations and fx, camera work, not that easy ...

For sure i will not make wearing glows showed from beginning. This probably would be the project suicide:) .Simulation like this could be too time wasted in this situation. I guess i will show only stretching using skin or something and moving fingers ect. This shot will be on screen realy short . I should do the animatic soon with time frames and i do the detailed plan for this shot then.

Maya would be great for this... but i dont have that exeperience in maya... In max im working fast so i will stay with it. In future i wish to learn maya well,its more flexible.

This scenes shows two dictators shots wich should make atmosphere of serious thing going on in the world. Sad mood. Foggy, almost gray colours. For a moment we showing face of evil character with specific red glasses.

Agent try to climb on last segment of enemy radar(try too rurn off it) .Suddenly futuristic plane starts to shoot to agent.

In second shot dictator watches from far(standing in other buliding). All scene is in winter area.

In interior of industrial buliding, agents seems to prepare for 'visitators' . This animatica shows only 2 first shots of this scene.

after this shots - we would love to do like this :) :
She is is running away(because volume lights
goes inside - (volums from enemies flash lights) and she stops on the wall, rotate head down, closing eyes, flash lights are exacly on her, and then electic shockwave on gloves starts to speed up quick impulse and boom! boom like some ripple of energy. everything starts to go in slow motion and wall goes to fragmets. Of course blast dont hurt agent - it will be difficult i guess to show - like she is coverd by energy field going from gloves. Next shot from outside in slow motion -camera flying around - we would love to see all fragments(loooot of them, cloud of
smoke, dust ect..) and big comtainer(cylindrer shape) falls down on
camera (short moment before it hits in camera everything back to real
time) blast! wow :)

We showing sexy agent. Behind her enemy vip cars wich are her target. This animatic is without scene ending.

This version is old .. i wasnt sure to show it but :) lets show project evolution.

In this version agent carrying cover for musical instrument. But we will change it for something else. Also wepon type in it will be different - but we dont have it yet.
Probably some shots will change too.

yes i did to many details in this face.. i fall in to zbrush :) but we will add to our 'wish list' possibility of two zoom shots on faces agent and dictator - we wil see.
in general it didnt took me long i had brake in contest.. but for sure rest of things need to be detailed as needed to shot because we will not fit in in time :)

This animatic is very rought :) many times we changed ideas in this scene, and some objects looks different in each shot - after we deside wich shots we take for final we will prepare 'clean' animatic version - this is just to show you on what we working on. In first, agent had gun in instrument covers - later, gun i bag :) now - realy grate Jim idea - gun is hidden under long ~scarf . I like his idea with slow motion shot with scarf going out on wind and then gun will show up. Cars explosion from far we will take on ' wish list ' - scene is very long so we will make this shot last if will have so much time,

Yes i want make him look mad :) Skin was wrong in previous test(esspetialy nose) - i just added mask for scattering areas. Still is small problem with hairs in fron of head - i need to make so not interpolated to fix it.

tx guyz for comments,

CGIsrael - with dictators colours , i wish him to look cold and 'tough goverment' look and with background almost gray( very low saturation) - golden tie for dictator would look cool but right now i have to get other things forward - but i will do the test to check it how it will looks;)

melkao - agent cloth shader is not final in any way - but i have to say that is not that easy to do realy fast cloth shader wich will look nice and will not 'flicker' in animation - so probably until work on final shots rednering i will not have much much better tests of it - but for sure i will put more work to it

Still is more than some to do with those characters but like i sad need to move other stuff forward - i will do test with agent hairs and later need to do winter cloths for agent - for shots with radar and airplane. Also i wish to do the test in maya with those characters so im wondering how it will look in final:)

not it will be not in case and not in guitar case too. it will be under scarf(cloth)
and its smaller before tranformation - like in the animation sample added 2posts before ;)

cool update. I like the anim, model and texturing. Your detail level is crazy. I wonder if rendering will be difficult when all the pieces are put together. I'm sure you know how to optimise and you're definitly on schedule.

harmless is going to make great fx. Also he did a lot of work with camera in animatics scenes: cars,air plane, gloves . My ideas and first shape animatic and then harmless was doing corrections or changing shot and we discuss about all. Also harmless idea was the shot where agent show up bazooka from under the scarf - my idea with cover was week against it like i posted before. In genral, harmless comments and help is great. I will have soon edited trailer animatic.

Thanks - this is test rendering - i did this test a bit to large on screen. This anim frames was rednering around 10 seconds per frame. Quality is ok - a bit too detailed like for motion in this res. For sure i will redner characters and background as separated , also the hairs ect..

I have to make car to give it to harmless who will make explosion of it.
then i have to back to work on main characters and animate them, make cloth simulations( i started some tests) and then i will do the charcters like soliders in background and soliders with flash lights in gloves scene. Also lighting work for it .After that still will be a lot things to do. Airplane, radar, interiors,street,ect ect..

At the same time i will do some texture photos for backgrounds esspetially for two first scenes and i will make videocam shoting for mocap :) - agent, dictator moves

So work on this is not like shot by shot.
harmless will post soon what is the plan with fx.

hi melkao, I used software from Side Effects called Houdini. I emitted particles from a source point, then I copied metaballs to those particles. I used a special shader that fills each metaball with a noisy volume. From there I tuned the noise on the volume and rendered it with a spotlight that has depth map shadows. This depth map shadowing is what lets you see the noise and the shape of the trail. Since it is based on particles, any color information such as reds, yellow, etc, can be picked up by the shader and used to tint the volume. That is how it changes colors in the front of the trail. I have some newer versions of this that are completed. They will be posted shortly, so stay tuned!

WIP rednering background for shot where agenent walks close to camera(camera pan).this renderings are without any composition effects ect. This backgound is in fall season and there will be simulated leafs on the street added later.All will be a bit blured by dof. Centracl part of frame will be almost fully covered by agent character.

other frame of background. no compotition work in this. Motion blure sampling is not very hi ammount but still is hi ;) more than half of shot is rednered with MB on low sampling and only last frames where cars are passing camera are rendering with hi sampling.

damn, nice quality master :thumbsup: it's really top class. What seems not perfect here are the reflections on cars, they are too blue (too intense) to me, what with the rather low saturated sky seen in the far background doesn't look right. But you know, it's just trying to find something.. as it is really top class

thx all,

its not composited at all. im rednering in vray - harmless helped me to understand how to redner to raw and convert it to exr - to make composition work in Nuke - its gives realy lot of control of everything in postproduction - im not sure yet how it will be colorized ect.. distance fog ect.. i just did quick test in photoshop just to check how it could looks like.

That looks great so far.. lots going on. I can imagine that final composite will be great. One comment regarding the explosion. I think smoke has a bit too much turbulence.

you are right. In this test my vorticity confinment is way too high and needs to be keyframed off/down much sooner. The high value causes those unnatural swirl pockets near the end of the sim.

We'll probably have a few explosions in the whole piece. If all goes well, some slow motion and others very quick.

Also of note: the aspect differences and compression are really working against us in this posting! Many of my tests did not have an image aspect of 1.3333 so the video can appearing squished. Since the contest is nearing its end, expect some better, properly formatted videos coming your way soon!

we have realy a lot to do. Im modeling and texturing and rednering and harmless is working on fx at same time. Deadline is realy close but we will do everything to finish as planned ;)

im making redesign of agent to this shot. she will be in black tide suit in thsi scene - coat will be only in cars scene ( because cloth simulation is taking realy lot of time...)

couple rednering what are rednered. This video is without any composition work wich will be huge part in this.

first shot with cars. beginning of cars animation will be not seen because will be covered by agent . In this there is no sky in bg. there is no composition work like balance and colorizing,light blooms ect.. lot of things like reflcetion will be tuned up in composition. there is no fx like leafs and of course there is no agent yet :)

second car shot the same.. no compostion yet

dicator shot. Couple passes are rednered as separated.for skin , hair shadow, hair ect.. also floor and gun will be much different. And of course big plasma sphere in bg will add more' life' to this. Aslo there is no compostion work.

gloves zoom shot. there will be fx added and things in composition like volume light.

In overall composition will be 50% of final result.

Nice girl. I must admit that you went for one of the most difficult tasks which is creating believable characters. Not only it is challenging to model and texture it, but also animation extremaly important. Secondary animation, facial expression etc... all that together is quite a task. So far so good.

How are you doing with animation?

Dude.... It is so bad. I can only imagine how do you feel about that :(. Have you tried to contact admins and ask them for help? If your transfer was interrupted by clock, you should have oportunity to finish it anyway. It's my opinion. Wish you started it a little earlier.

cg short animation AGENT

In given time done by our team.

We didnt complite it. Probably never will.
But we are happy from the results and from first 30 sec. trailer in such short time. It was good occasion to train some stuff , play with it , for me it was opportunity to learn new things in cg industry. Most of time spent on it it was fun but last week and deadline was realy hard work.

Im good with my 'failure' now :)
I learned a lot - esspetially that logistic and data managments is so very important in even such short project like this . Dont want to talk about excuses to much :) - but i had realy bad luck in last 2 weeks before dealine. Also my experience was based most on images and only hobby interest in 3d in general - animation ect. so this project was realy good test for me in overall.

Time to start something new ;)
