Good luck Vincent and while i'm at it, good luck to you as well MVDB, maak er iets interessants/moois van..!

06-16-2009, 08:46 PM (

Well a quick start on modeling the main character. I have only use cubic primitives and maybe I'll keep it like that.

06-23-2009, 08:45 PM (

Quick update. The car is a temporary mesh.

06-23-2009, 09:18 PM
Yo Vincent! Nice work!

Good luck for us all! =)

06-24-2009, 07:23 AM
Vincent in ! Great to see you around !

06-24-2009, 07:49 AM
it will be a pleasure to compete with you around, Vincent! you always bring something fresh to the table. what's your idea behind the pic?

06-24-2009, 12:02 PM
Thanks all for support.

Anders : an idea ? I didn't know we need some. Fisrt it was just a spectacular picture(I know there were a challenge about that...), with a agent secret spying upon the car of a big vilain, on a high speed moment in a big city. But if you need a story maybe I could add some elephant I think. Because I love elephant. So maybe the bad is the queen of the elephant's kingdom. The agent secret discover that they planned to retain all the water from the sea in their trunk to make the human surrender. But as he was discovering this on the car with his so marvellous spy glasses, one elephant which was escorting the car on a little scotter saw him. Will he finish this mission alive ?
As you see, I'm not sure again about the concept, I'm just sure it will be difficult in time.

06-26-2009, 09:47 AM
hahah :D you've got a sick mind, i love it! now incorporate those ideas to the picture and show us ur talent!

06-26-2009, 09:27 PM (

Where the hell am I going with this ? I don't really know.

06-28-2009, 01:07 PM (

definitely don't know where I'm going, maybe just besides this elephant

06-29-2009, 09:45 PM (

First test of camera. Just a start.

07-01-2009, 08:19 AM
those elephants adds a lot to the image. it's not an idea that makes you go "ah he rescued the girl and is chased down by her kidnappers who's after the money..."
this is making us wonder what happened before this chase. now i already know, but for those who don't! i love these kinda pics that makes me want to see what happened before.

07-01-2009, 01:20 PM
Ninja elephants ?
why not !

07-01-2009, 04:41 PM
hi my friend...nice to see you again! concept...looks like a videogame. i┤ll be watching!

07-02-2009, 10:13 AM (

Still expremimenting some layout. Trying womething with nearly no perspective camera.

Anders, gilles, carlos, thanks for support. I will need and also artistical direction because that's not really clear in my mind.

07-02-2009, 01:15 PM
Hi vincent ! nice work as always , glad to see you again , wait for your stylize work again!

07-03-2009, 01:43 AM
Hey Vicent,

What a crazy idea... I really like it. :bounce:

Good luck.

07-03-2009, 02:30 PM
hm i don't like the camera angle, to flat and everything is crowded in the lower part of the image.
why not try something more "dramatic/dynamic/action".

here's a.. euh.. you can call it a draw to make me happy :D

but i hope it can explain my thoughts better than jsut words..
having elephants in the foreground shooting, samurais in the back jumping from high, maybe even airplanes. big building rising on the sides etc.. just ideas!

07-03-2009, 07:06 PM
Very minimal, let see what would happen next

good luck

07-03-2009, 08:17 PM (

Thanks all for comment. Anders with your drawing (yes I consider it as a draw), you was thinking about something like that ?

That could be interessant for the drama, I agree. I don't really know whaty I'll kept because I want something really stylized with lot of blur. And that's maybe a little too classic. But as I don't really know what I want at the end...

07-03-2009, 10:59 PM
cool that u did a try, i like it more like this!
although i think the agent could come a bit closer to the viewer/camera as it's he who is supposed to be the main subject of the picture.
and then when u progress(i guess you plan to) have more things lead the viewer to him. such as road marks, bullets, clouds coming from "behind and forward" to add depth) can't wait to see the progress!

07-09-2009, 07:53 AM
Hey man , its hard to pick a camera angle that shows all the action and still show all in a good size. im sure ull find the right angle for the final composition.
and well i really love your idea man, i just saw your portfolio and now im sure your final image will rock !! ill be following your steps :)

07-09-2009, 09:12 AM
Salut Vincent,i prefer the one on the top(the first one) really hard to choose a good camera angle.good luck!!

07-09-2009, 11:31 AM
Nice and stylish as usual! The top layout works best for me, and I really like your chosen colorset, very retro-agent :)

07-09-2009, 12:21 PM
I was away for several days, I'm back in the challenge ;) .

anders : Yes I plan to progress in this picture. About the spy I want him to be the focus of the picture but not neceserraly very big. He's more a silhouette. I'll try to add some things (bullets is a great idea) even with the graphical style I'm working on, I have to pay attention to the number of things in the picture

rattlesnake : thanks. THis composition is giving me headache but that will be the more important thing if I want to achieve what's in my mind :D

dissar : thanks for comment. good luck on your picture, very impatient to see more about it.

Gunilla : HI. Thanks for passing by. The colorset is not really the final one. I think that will be similar for all the main objects (with adjustments of course) but that will be surely really different (and colorfull) for the environment.

07-09-2009, 09:11 PM (

Looking for graphic style for BG. Without colors for the moment.

07-11-2009, 11:29 AM
tu serais pas dispo par hasard en Aout pour faire du rendu avec moi ? :)

tu serais pas dispo par hasard en Aout pour faire du rendu avec moi ? :)

Je t'ai repondu par mail ;)

07-13-2009, 10:24 PM (

I'm working a little on photoshop to see what I want to add to my picture. I thought about a rocket. IS that better if coming from a little character like in upper version (the one I prefer but I don't know about understandable of the picture and the fact it masks some part of the picutre). Nothing like in middle picture to see more about xaht happen behind but less spectacular. Or coming from an helicopter in bottom view, but maybe breaking a ltille the dybnamic of the pciture with the sword.

Waiting for your advice (and if you think I can add some other thing, I want to know :) )

Oh and even black and white version is great, there will be colors, many many of them, surely something a little abused

07-15-2009, 08:36 PM (

I will put it more beside the car

07-16-2009, 07:43 AM
i think the last composition works great and can't find anything to change on that.

although i think you can add a car grill to the limo. as it's the focal point it could benefit by a bit more detail to make the viewer stay there longer with their eyes.

and i think the agents silhouette has become unclear in this perspective. i did a little pic:

kinda like he's holding on the the limo with one hand, slipping to the right(seen from camera) by the force of the explosion. and holding one arm out to aim at the elephant who's closest to him.

07-16-2009, 08:27 AM
Anders : thanks for all these great advices.
About the pose of the agent : I've already recentered it but don't change the pose for the moment. I will surely give him a gun but his pose will stay a bit more "smart", I think he's too much in panic on your sketch but that's inspiring anyway.
About detailling : yes the car will have more detailling. I will also delete sort of elephant ivory I made, because they aren't understandable in this view. MAybe adding a flag or log on the car too. I've also start to change the road to have a better link with the buildings. I used street lamps. This version is more weird than graphic. Some details also on the buildings, hoping it will not destroy the depth.
The difficulty is the line between details and graphic but well that's a challenge no ?
And many many colors :arteest:

And if someone could add me a 3rd arm to have the time to finich this picture, call me fast.

07-16-2009, 01:14 PM
I really like how you've tilted the car in this latest comp - the white more behind the agent will helps to make him pop! I personally think the composition would be a little stronger clipping off an inch or so from the left side, so that there's less open space behind the elephant and he serves as more of a framing device, but thats just me. Anyhow, good luck getting it all together!

07-16-2009, 07:02 PM
Looking really funny...the style is so srtrange....nice job!

07-16-2009, 08:11 PM
melkao : thanks. Yes taht's strange, for me too sometimes :scream:

walrus : thanks for long comment, really appreciated :) . I agree with you about the space at the left of the elephant. I first made this because otherwise the scooter was cut and I was afraid the spectator would not be able to understand that these are scooter (with that "special" modeling, very rough, it is really difficult). But I had an idea that I 'll do if I have enought time and talent : making the kimono flying much more besides the elephant and so with the bandana, adding two little piece of cloth flying.

07-18-2009, 01:30 PM (

A little shoot from another angle to show some progress on the car, the buildings and the road.

07-20-2009, 01:21 AM
Hey Vincent,

Really great concept, like a lot that elephant ninjas, cool!! The perspective in your composition puts a really great action touch on the images :D Great work and waiting for more updates! Cheers!!

07-20-2009, 08:06 PM (

It's time to go to final stage ?

07-21-2009, 11:40 AM (

something nearly finished on background city

07-21-2009, 01:28 PM
like i said in last challenge! your style is my favourite , color is well choose , wait for elephant in fg !

07-21-2009, 08:28 PM
Hey Vincent ,

I gotta say , that's the most original idea around ! Very funny , and the cartoon style is really cool !

Can't wait to see it with all the lighting and volumes .

cheers ,

07-22-2009, 06:18 AM
Great progress here! And the current colorset is really stunning. Nice contrast between warm and cozy colors and the action filled scene. This entry will be one of a kind for sure :)

07-22-2009, 03:30 PM
hm i was thinking, maybe you could have some clouds over/covering the buildings in the back to give us an idea of how high they really are.
or peau etre add some depth by making the objects furthest away less contrasty or/and less saturated. or adding a bit of fog.
but depending on the style you want that might just mess it up. looking great so far!

07-22-2009, 05:19 PM
monsit, stephane : thanks. DOn't expect too much from the characters, it will be closed to what you see in screenshot, I keep something with corners, it's not a sort of proxy/low model. But I will make some light and shade anyway :)

gunilla : thanks a lot.

anders : yes the clouds, I thought about it, I even have draw them on one of the previous post I made. I have to give it a try. About the depth or fog, I 'm afraid to loose my colors even I could have to do it anyway.

07-22-2009, 07:46 PM (

some work on the explosion and smoke. The smoke rocket will be a little change in photoshop to be less round, more dynamic if I'm able to do it.

07-24-2009, 09:05 PM (

no time for comment anymore,so much things to do :)

07-24-2009, 09:47 PM
What a fun style!!! Love the colours... and the ninja elephants!!! Awesome stuff. :)

07-30-2009, 10:22 PM (

Some work on one elephant. many things to do again, and only one real day to work on it because I leave my computer for one week..

08-05-2009, 08:45 AM (

I forgot to submit a concept so here 's a cheated one with in bonus the logo of the elephant gang.

08-05-2009, 08:59 AM
edit : image too big I'll repost tomorow

08-05-2009, 09:00 AM (

here's a nearly finished picture, there is still some work to do on it, adding motion blur on foreground elepahnt for example. But if I want to have some crit and some time to correct it (even it would be difficult), I have to post this now. I'll post in in bigger resolution on next post in the thread to see more details.

08-06-2009, 09:03 PM

your visual approach is really something else! great style in your portfolio.

Your image is looking really cool, visual appealing and great action! The Fx explosion layer you posted is so neat!

Hope you finish this one!

Wish you the best.

Agent Alan Pelt was tracking the bad queen of the elephant's kingdom, hiding on the top of her car to obtain informations. Alan discovered that they planned to retain all the water from the sea in their trunk to make the human surrender. But as he was looking through the car with his so marvellous spy glasses, the ninja elephants which were escorting their queen saw him. Will he finish this mission alive ?
