Here are the storyboards. There might be more/less layers to the story, but so far this is the rough idea.

That's pretty much it.
Things might not be clear since the dialogues are missing. I still haven't finalized the dialogues for V.O. Will post once am done with them.

Models to follow soon.

06 June 2009, 06:09 PM (

There are 3 guys who get killed in the train compartment. One of them is bald.

Here is a WIP on that.

Another View.

Nice looking model you got going on there.
Your story boards look pritty good to. The whole thing going to be all done in 3d? Should look pritty cool

07 July 2009, 04:28 AM
I agree with Galvaniseoil..very nice looking did that in almost no time at all...looking forward to seeing more WIP and models!

Thanks Galvaniseoil. Yes, whole thing is going to be worked in 3d. However, I am still looking for an appropriate style to support the story. :)

very nice looking did that in almost no time at all...looking forward to seeing more WIP and models!
Thanks Mate.Yeah I started models and pre-production at the same time. Still working on Pre-Viz and stuff. Hope to post more models soon!

07 July 2009, 03:54 AM
That's one ugly dude. Really cool model. Did you do this in ZBrush? Looking forward to seeing your progress...

07 July 2009, 09:53 PM (

Okay, as I am still working on look of characters I thought it would be good to start building some extra assets.
I need a few buildings for a couple of shots in the background. I looked for a few reference images and worked on the models.
Here is the first one.

07 July 2009, 09:54 PM (

Another one.

07 July 2009, 09:55 PM (

Second one textured.

07 July 2009, 09:58 PM
The quality has gone down quite a bit here due to compression I guess. :hmm:

TCPortfolio: Thanks! Yeah the model is done in Zbrush. Changing him quite a bit. He was going more to the realistic side. Not something i am aiming for, as far as the characters are concerned.

07 July 2009, 09:59 PM

07 July 2009, 10:24 PM
Quality buildings you've got there.

07 July 2009, 10:49 PM
Now that's just great texture work :)

07 July 2009, 03:25 AM
Wow! Very impressive..can't wait to see more!

07 July 2009, 08:06 AM
I LOVE the texturing on that building. Perhaps take some of the balustrades and bend them out a little, or break them off? It looks like something from COD 4....definitely a good thing. ;)

I also love how the previs goes from daily monotonous stuff (waking up, coffee, eating breakfast), then all goes to hell, then it goes all calm again. Kind of like the beginning of the I AM LEGEND trailer.

07 July 2009, 09:48 AM
great texture.
I love the second palace. :)

07 July 2009, 02:44 PM
Looks great! Beautilful storyboard.

07 July 2009, 05:07 PM

wow, you have a cool style, and your skills are awesome, too. Especially the textures look fingerlicking good. But i have to say, i didn't really understand the storyboard, there seems to happen very much. Maybe i am just dumb, so i have to wait for your first shots or animations.

so long

07 July 2009, 05:38 PM
ivanisavich, pierzak, MartinNielsen, JeanCharlesGingras, mad-, Lasphere :
Thanks guys. It really means a lot.

Thanks Man. Breaking and bending those balustrades seems like a good idea. I hope to do this if I find time. Moreover, I am not sure these buildings will be in focus that much.
Yeah about the storyboard, I was trying to think of a 'real' guy who would be just like anybody else. Doing trivial things and making a living just like so. But his superior skills have made him work on more 'sophisticated' things in secret. :D

Thanks for the comment mate.
As I previously mentioned I am still missing the Voice Over here and that happens to be the thread joining the whole story together. So, the storyboard is a sort of notes for me here and I will try to post a more complete version later if possible. :)

07 July 2009, 04:38 PM
Fantastic style with the storyboard! Also love the bald guy!

Count me among those interested in how the story joins together. :)

07 July 2009, 06:22 PM (

Here is the building for shot25.

07 July 2009, 06:24 PM (

I am working on shot10 at the moment. It includes Boss1.

07 July 2009, 06:25 PM (

Testing and brushing it up. Still working on it.

07 July 2009, 08:21 PM
Hmm, he looks a bit like a cross between Morpheus and Commander Locke! :p

Mr. Morlocke ???

(Sorry, sometimes I just can't help myself) :D
Keep up the good work man, looking forward to seeing more.

Best regards, Varun

07 July 2009, 03:45 PM
hahaha Mr Morlocke!
Well Varun, it's still a work in progress, later I am afraid you might come with an even more weird name :D. Good luck to you too mate! ;)

08 August 2009, 07:39 AM (

I have been busy with work lately. But thanks to nights and weekends :)
I started a storyboard with roughly 25 shots. And I have done only 4 so far. I expect to complete them by cutting some parts of the story. Also I believe rigging took some time for me. Here are the rigs for basic man and woman. (I used the script abAuto to make things simpler and faster). I have based the agent on the same rig.

very nice shots and rednering. I like very much animation of trees looks very natural. A little bit textures on bulidings and street looks to similar because of low contrast - looks a bit like grey shader. In general great work!

08 August 2009, 10:37 AM
really great rendering results, pro stuff  but good point by staszek, more detail and contrast on textures would do good here.
good luck, hope you will finish on time

08 August 2009, 10:43 AM
Looking good! I really like that street light render in shot 3.

08 August 2009, 11:55 AM
Thanks for the comments. And you are so right about the contrast on textures. I will surely work on that if time permits. :)

arturro, gregmcquay,
Thanks guys! :D Good luck to you too.

08 August 2009, 01:20 PM
Wow... that is quality. It has a very nice feel. Nice.. Quite a lot of grain that I am not huge fun of but apart form that.. well done.

08 August 2009, 03:43 AM
Thanks. Hmmm I will see in the final version not to overdo it ;)

08 August 2009, 11:18 AM
Great job ! great renders !
Any particular setup in these renders ? Do you use multipass ? recomposited in After ?

08 August 2009, 01:40 AM
Thanks. It's a basic 3 pass setup (Beauty/AO/Depth). After which I do Color Correction in AE and play with the overall tones. :)

08 August 2009, 01:54 PM
Hey Ishan, beautiful work so far. I love how your storyboards and final work seem to be in such harmony... looking forward to seeing more.

Best regards, Varun

08 August 2009, 06:20 AM
thats some awesome rendering. Looking forward for more updates

08 August 2009, 11:56 PM
:applause:WOW no words, the texture of the movie man, looks real......... the lens distortion, grain, light contrast.................. wonderful.

And one thing, I love the clock and how it sounds, that's great dude, fantastic job

08 August 2009, 08:54 PM
Cool renders!

I remember liking your Uplift entry, and I think your work has gotten better since then too. Good luck!

08 August 2009, 04:11 AM
love the grain, lighting and post treatment.

08 August 2009, 07:59 AM
saeDubai, KingTezz, CGIsrael, mikebot, grzesiekj!! ..

Thanks! I really appreciate all your comments.

08 August 2009, 08:11 AM
nice work. I love your desaturated blown-out look. It reminds me a lot of 28 days later.
Make sure all of that build up has a payoff.

technically there is some shadow issues on the alarm clock and the coffee steam should be more stringy and a lot less puffy.

looking good!

08 August 2009, 08:38 AM
Hey redCigarette.
What are you up to?
any chance to see agent in action? or the boss (shot10)... in action.
I am craving for action.
Judging from the previous update, It should look cool and grainy :)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the great support. Unfortunately I can't continue in this contest anymore. I have to fly back to India for my father isn't well.

So, I am uploading what I have. Its a 30 sec trailer for now. I have a number of shots ready to render (the agent in train and the bad bald guys)..but well. Maybe next time.

Congrats and Good luck to all the great contestents.

I am sorry to hear about your father. I hope everything will be OK.
Renders are looking very good. The only comment I could have is the tree, leaves move as if it was very windy... perhaps it is.
Other from that.. Well done and Good luck.

08 August 2009, 09:23 AM

Thanks. I appreciate your concern. Good luck for the challenge mate, your entry is looking great!

And here is the Trailer/making. Since my finished video is only 30 secs long I am uploading only these two.

I so wish I had at least a week to finish the train sequence off. Good Luck everyone!

Hi Ishan, I think that Amir missed the last page of this thread and accidentally believed that you had made your final entry with your last submissions. My apologies for the erroneous earlier post.

I'm very sad to hear you won't be able to continue. Your work is beautiful and I was keenly looking forward to more updates. My best wishes to your father and hope to see more of your work soon.

Best regards, Varun

08 August 2009, 07:10 PM
Too bad you couldn't finish all of it. Maybe when your father gets better you can get the rest of it together. Anyway, good job on your finished cut and hope your father feels better soon.

Thanks for the support and liking the work guys.
Things are better back at home. And everyone has really done some serious good work with this challenge. (though I am sad for Staszek's entry)

Wishing luck everyone. :)

09 September 2009, 06:11 PM
Nice to see you around. Are you going to finish this short?

09 September 2009, 01:14 PM

Yup..once things settle down a bit, I will continue this as I have many things done and they will be wasted if I don't finish it up.
How about you? You will focus on your deus ex short? Now when you are done with secret agent. Its looking good :)

09 September 2009, 02:49 PM
I wish you ware fast back on track with this movie. I found some shots / techniques inspiring for my own works. I don't feel strong enought to handle animation for deus ex now. At the moment I'm back on finishing project started few years ago It's titled "the room" (very - working title) I'm planing to finish it within next 6 - 7 months. It's a story of a group of young people sneaking into an old ruined circus where one got trapped inside an unusual playroom for an unusual game. I treat it partialy as preparations for deus ex as this is the project I started animating for back few years ago.
Wish you all best

09 September 2009, 02:36 PM
Oh that sounds great. A ruined circus has so many possibilities man!
Okie.. go for it then and let all of us know when you are done. (or a production diary maybe?)

Good Luck :)

09 September 2009, 07:29 AM
Sure thing ;)
Good luck!

10 October 2009, 11:05 AM
