06-16-2009, 10:05 PM
Hello :wavey: (http://forums.cgsociety.org/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#) Your work in DW4 really rocked! I look forward to this one :)

06-17-2009, 02:56 AM
wow thank you so much everyone for all the welcoming replies, yeah ive been pretty packed up with works in the office, like Matt said, perhaps i will tell the boss that i wont be in the office for the next 2 months:Psneak away to work on this challenge :D

heres the rough idea of what im gonna do,im gonna have the special agent(main character) being intercepted/discovered by the crook(a gunrunner) who thought that he'd nailed the agent but at the same time, the girl whos been working for the gunrunner betrayed him as shes actually a spy, teamates of the agent who works undercover to source all the info from the gunrunner.i wanted the scene to have alil bit of action+ drama and also to have the agents to be in a dominant role instead of being chased and all:)

Martin- thanks mate, the DW4 is actually a rush piece, would have done better if i have more time:)

zapan- thanks mate,i am doing 2D or maybe a mix, probably be blocking out the forms and all to get the compo right, will see how thing goes

MrFreeman- :D thanks man,im totally flattered

walrus- hey mate,it would be great to have u in the challenge tho.do find time for it Mike:D

Matt- yeah thats what im gonna do:p joking.thanks dude,u have solid entry going there

theresa- thanks my friend, will do my best.

lynna and Michael-thanks a lot both of ya for the support.will try my best

i m thinking to proceed with this idea and see how things work out along the way.

06-17-2009, 04:04 AM
Nice concept, Im waiting to see what come next. good luck!

06-17-2009, 04:12 AM
This is a good concept. :)

There is definitely a "story behind the image" going on.

Maybe the girl is a lover who has been turned... but is the man she loves good or evil?

Too bad for the bald guy who was betrayed.... :P

06-17-2009, 07:01 AM
Madness-of-Hamlet- thanks mate:)
CGIPadawan- thanks, heres the rough idea of whats going on:
:the special agent(main character) being intercepted/discovered by the crook(a gunrunner) who thought that he'd nailed the agent but at the same time, the girl whos been working for the gunrunner betrayed him as shes actually a spy, teamates of the agent who works undercover to source all the info from the gunrunner.i wanted the scene to have alil bit of action+ drama and also to have the agents to be in a dominant role.
*the girl is not a lover or anything, shes trained as a spy/special agent to kill all emotions when comes to dealing with missions and the bald guy is the crook.

06-17-2009, 07:05 AM
Ah.. I see I was too imaginative thinking there was a love angle involved. ;)

Good luck! :)

It's interesting that people can see the same picture and think of a different story.
I think maybe setting the place in a weapons hangar will deliver the intent of a Gun-Running setup. :)

06-17-2009, 07:06 AM
http://assets.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/24/17625/17625_1245222376_medium.jpg (http://assets.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/24/17625/17625_1245222376_medium.jpg)

i played around with the composition again, having the main character on the right while the girl in the middle pointing the gun at the gunrunner as he lower down his aim when the girl pointed at him.i wanted the scene to be in some kind of air base/hangar with a chopper in the background.

06-17-2009, 07:08 AM
CGIPadawan- thanks mate, haha yeah the love thing can be injected too, thanks for the idea about the hangar, its totally what im thinking as well:D

06-17-2009, 07:11 AM
Small suggestion: "Agent with Hair should have his arms in a Surrender position."

I don't know.. I think in many movies that's the moment at which an accomplice would spring her trap... During a false sense of security when the Gun-Runner has caught the other spy.

From here there are two ways the Male Agent With Hair Can Act

1) Confused - He doesn't know the girl has helped him
2) Smiling knowingly - It's the "Gotcha!" expression.

Also IF you want to use the love angle... the 2nd expression comes from knowledge that he knows he has turned the girl against the Gun-Runner.

Just a few thoughts. :)

06-17-2009, 07:14 AM
CGIPadawan- yeah,i was thinking about that too, thanks for reminding, actually,in the 1st sketch, the agents hide his hand under the jacket and hav himself armed and ready with a gun in such sticky situation.:)
i ll look into this and see how it works.thanks again mate

the smilling knowingly, yes,he already knew this would happened, while ,at the same time, hes armed to be ready.

06-17-2009, 07:21 AM
Hehehe.. is it "For Love, Or Money"?

Anyways, while interesting, it is up to you if you want to inject the hint of a love angle. I mean I only thought of it because of films like "From Russia With Love" and "The Spy Who Loved Me".

Yeah I know.. I'm such a sucker for those things. :P

the 3rd sketches for today, was packed with works in the studio ,can only sneak abit of my time to work this out.let me know what u guys think:) thanks.

06-17-2009, 03:47 PM
Hi Michael!, you have a good idea, image told story very well, for me , I like no 3 , no 2 is ok , maybe you can mix the camera angle between them,
good luck, see ya 'round

06-17-2009, 03:53 PM
Hi there. Good stuff so far!

I think I prefer the tension and the poses most in sketch #1, but the placement of characters and camera is more interresting in sketch # 3.

Keep it up!

06-18-2009, 10:38 AM
Wow...love how this story unfolds... Looks like some betrayal involved...! Very good concept... Keep it up...:applause:

heres a fast sketch on the contrast and values,i have also incorperated some of the ideas given by monsitj and aghill on the actions as well as some camera works.
thanks :)

06-18-2009, 12:27 PM
Thanks Monsitj, aghill and mrpeace comments and suggestion:)its very much appreciated

06-18-2009, 01:12 PM
This is looking awesome.
Yeah I liked #3 also.
On the new test, I like the subtle "crossing" of guns from 2nd(bald) to 3rd character(the girl) The tension this create helps the composition, make sure u don't "lose" that.
The lighting is looking good too.

keep going

06-18-2009, 01:14 PM
Woah..a heartbeat-scary situation. Good work so far :)

06-18-2009, 01:21 PM
Nice layout! I like that all the action (or about-to-be-action!) is all compressed into a tighter space than in some earlier comps where they were strung out in a line. Biggest crit right now: That window/skylight is on all sorts of tangents with the characters. You could try making it larger or make it smaller, perhaps? Good luck!

06-18-2009, 01:53 PM
I like the greyscale sketch :) nice angle on it, at first when i saw the mini thumbnail thing on the forum page I thought it was julia and spike from Cowboy Bebop lol. Keep it up.

06-18-2009, 02:22 PM
interesting one...good luck..:)

06-18-2009, 05:54 PM
It getting to a good idea, lot of tension in the sketch, but i see some doubts in the bald's face. He needs to be decided so we can't imagine what come next, everybody die or only one dies.

06-18-2009, 06:03 PM
beautifully done and well exacuted. I really like your work and how you display your characters.. Good job and hope to see it completed, take care for now.

06-18-2009, 07:33 PM
Dude werent you just telling me yesterday that you didnt think you would have enough time for the challenge?! Damn your almost done man! great stuff :)

06-18-2009, 10:54 PM
Nice moment:buttrock:
The scene will be great...looking foward to see this:D

06-19-2009, 08:14 AM
Hey Michael !

Congratulations , you're almost done , what hav you planned to do the next 2 months ? :D

Anyway , looking really hot .
Minor suggestion ... perhaps zoom out the cam just a bit to see his feet that you can add some hints of his mission like a silver case or a dead body laying on the floor ... my 2 cents

cheers ,

06-19-2009, 09:35 AM
wow, thanks alot guys for all the precious suggestion and comments,i will look into those suggestion and see what i can do to make it better:)
Zapan- thanks man,i still have a long way to go and yeah~i will spend the 2 months wisely:D
walrus-noted!you were right, will work it out on my next wip:) thanks a lot mate

matt- yeah dude,i did what u said, told my boss that i will be away for 2 months:P lol

the female spy concept sketches.
thanks again for all the feedbacks:)

06-19-2009, 09:47 AM
Nice poses :) I really like the bottom-left version. Where she shoots.

06-19-2009, 09:51 AM
I realy like your concept and the sketch of the girl!

One thing I noticed on the first glance at the girl, there's nothing where she can put those guns when she dosen't need them :) (maybe it's just not in the concept sketch yet or I didn't see it)

06-19-2009, 10:00 AM
Maikl- hi,thanks and u are right:D i was thinking about that as well, anyway those are some pose studies.i will probably design her jacket longer to fit the gun, besides i might go for a smaller gun for her like, maybe a re designed derringer gun.will see how thing goes;)

MartinNielsen- thanks Martin:)

06-19-2009, 10:01 AM
So nice already !
Great use of light in your sketches !

06-19-2009, 01:21 PM

06-19-2009, 02:06 PM

06-19-2009, 06:37 PM
Wow! The female spy looks extremely awesome. You got the skills , Michael:buttrock:

nice work going on here. Looking forward for more updates :)
Best of luck

06-20-2009, 05:21 AM
Beautiful sketch of the figure...Maybe you can give her some more edge and toughness. Maybe tear clothes or dirt and scratch on the arms or face. Do you have a story line for her?

06-20-2009, 07:05 AM
wow I really like how she looks ........keep it up :wip:

06-20-2009, 11:41 AM
Hey bro! Really diging the new sketches for the girl. Your character work is really strong. Now go to bed!

06-20-2009, 05:02 PM

the main character secret agent sketch.

06-22-2009, 08:44 AM
looking at the 3 possible scenes...I think that the third is the best. If taken by a lower point of view it will be PERFECT in my opinion....More dramatic. Cool characters again..the last drawings rox!:applause:

a fast paint of a scene for the gun runner.thanks again for the comments guys

06-22-2009, 11:33 AM
OZ- thanks mate, yeah im thinking to go with the 3rd sketch and in corperate the composition and camera works of the grey scale sketch.

06-22-2009, 12:38 PM
Great sketches, I still prefer the one with the trio though- more drama, more of a feeling of a story behind it. Love the composition with the gun runner though, lots of scope there with the stuff on the walls...

06-22-2009, 01:55 PM
Man your character work is top notch. You need to teach me some skills!

Keep it up man

06-22-2009, 02:01 PM
your "fast" paintings are awesome. Great character poses and cool point of view approaches. Some thoughts on the scene. it might be nice to add some special agent feature. For example. The front character would have some device to activate a vehicle or a mashine in the background to put himself out of the trouble and fool them both. With that you can embed the background into your story. Just a thought. have fun and greetings.

06-22-2009, 06:47 PM
It all look so good :) Wonderful poses. I also admire the quality you can sustain with that speed.

06-22-2009, 07:11 PM
Man...this is pure awesomeness!
The gun runner is the best indeed...very nice scene:applause:

Good options , Michael!

06-23-2009, 06:04 PM
Thanks Theresa,as mentioned previously,i actually did this to tribute the gun runner character,im sticking with the trio piece still:D

matt- thanks bro,i look forward to see ur agent character!

Fahrija- thanks mate, glad to see u here and for the comments:)ill look into the idea that u have suggested,i was thinking to have the scenario in a weapon hangar where the gun runner stock most of his goods and yeah, its good to relate some of the background elements to the characters, thanks again for the comments

martin and digitalinmind- thank you both for the comments:)

06-23-2009, 06:38 PM
WOW! I love your characters! Great work with the setup. This is going to look awesome. I think it would add to the mood if there were some guys lying on the ground like the trench coated guy just took them out, but got caught from behind. Either way, I can't wait to see more of this.

06-26-2009, 10:15 PM

Can I have some of those guns?! :)

Keep up the good work

06-27-2009, 12:39 AM
I looked at the sketches and i liked the third one the best. It looks most balanced and all the characters all looked like in different poses than one another, variety. But i like the way the girl is holding her gun in the second sketch.
I looked at the grey scale image you have of the sketch and i really like it, though i think i liked it more with both his hands on the gun and he's still focused on the guy, but his eyebrow raised and side glancing at the girl like in the second pic of the sketches i mentioned above.
Really good work though and i see it going really well, really interesting background btw

07-13-2009, 11:14 PM
Amazing sketch... looks awesome! I love that it's in a black-white environment!

08-03-2009, 10:06 AM
hi! Good to see you here too!
Your entry looks good! Wish you good luck with the contest
