thnx to all of u my friends :) its so nice to see so many familiar faces! This time around I guess I'll be playing with a ninja theme.. it was such a long time since I draw or paint a ninja, and I believe a spy topic fits perfect to do some black magic!

walrus: hey man! so glad to see u around. Will u participate? I surely hope so.. And this time not as a judge, so less pressure :D

06-14-2009, 08:45 PM (

This is my first pass.. and coz I wont have much time to work on this challenge, I believe I'll go on from here and change composition and characters if needed thru painting.

The story is about japanese samurai demons, who caught a spy and thought they r safe now.. but in the back there is one more sneaky bastard, who replaced the servant of the general and is giving him a poisonous apple for a snack. Ninjas rule! :)

06-14-2009, 08:48 PM

06-20-2009, 02:46 AM
I knew from your first gray scale mach up that this image is going to pull you in. It does even more with that splash of color and another pass. This is really shaping up and definitely different than others in this contest.

I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

06-20-2009, 10:17 AM
Awesome sketch.

keep it up:beer:

06-20-2009, 12:42 PM
Wow... it's looking awesome.

06-20-2009, 03:03 PM
Hi mate,

passing by to say i┤m watching you.

always expecting great stuf from you and with style;) i love your impulsive sketches.

go ninja!

have fun

06-20-2009, 05:00 PM
Looking great, Blaz! I love the colour scheme you have going on. My only crit would maybe be that the thing on the left kind of draws your eye down to the bottom left a bit too much, but I'm sure you have it all under control. :D Please continue, sir.

06-20-2009, 05:52 PM
cool start.
more ninjas yeah!

06-22-2009, 10:55 AM
well this is starting to look sick as hell! love the fat goat samurai in the front just the ninja looks a bit too samurai-i if u wanted to make a ninja... but i guess the details shall reveal a lot more.
Love the colors specially the ones in the left corner.

06-22-2009, 08:43 PM
I expect a lot from this one! I'm not disappointed so far!
Hot stuff as always, NInja!

06-23-2009, 11:12 AM
O man, poor guy

06-23-2009, 12:31 PM
already started looking nice. keep it up. Best of luck :)

06-27-2009, 08:27 PM (

As u may know, I often change color scheme during my painting process, and this image is no exception. I went for more brownish tones here, which also helps me with detailing at the moment. Im still thinking what to do with the background.. will there be a sky, curtains, clouds, etc.. I'll see what will pop in my mind at that time :)

06-27-2009, 08:37 PM
MichaelZHsee: thnx buddy! I hope new colors work as well for u.

scho81: thnx! I'll try to keep that structure of the image that will keep pulling u in :)

rawgon: keep watching and I hope I'll fulfill ur expectations!

paperclip: yea, the thing on the left side is a leg of a guard in the front, which will be lightened up and textured with some japanese textile pattern or replaced with something else... donno what yet, but I need something there :) thnx for the crit!

luxi: hey buddy! ninjas dont always have masks, especially when they r captured.. but I'll make them more different than those monster samurais! and the one in the back, with the poisoned apple, he mustnt have a mask, otherwise he will be suspicius ;)

yakonusuke: I hope I will be able to live up to ur expectations! thnx

Ataulfo, mic, KOryH, Zazill8, nandlaskar: thnx to all who stopped by and gave me a comment! much appreciate it!

06-27-2009, 08:43 PM
I might as well give a bit bigger image for a preview..

06-27-2009, 09:09 PM
OMG! That's awesome, nothing to say , that's great,

06-27-2009, 09:23 PM
wow man! the light on this piece is a class!
the design of the samurai that┤s seated is just great, captured my attention for a while.
great direction

06-28-2009, 11:24 AM

06-28-2009, 02:00 PM

06-28-2009, 04:26 PM
Wow,You got a winner here Blaz.Cant wait to see more.Cheers!

06-28-2009, 04:32 PM
Awesome colors!

06-28-2009, 04:42 PM
great job...
and i can see the ninja now, he just needed some detail to separate him from the others. Love the one in the back with the apple, love the light, but i did prefer the old color scheme, but that is just a personal preference. As for the backgrnd i think like a mongolian/general tent would be really cool.

06-28-2009, 04:59 PM (

moooore details :) this is fun, hehe..

BIG thnx for all the feedback guyz!

06-28-2009, 04:59 PM

07-07-2009, 01:18 PM
What? And you'd come so far! You don't think you'll have any free time in the next two months? Well, keep us in mind if you have a spare minute or two, as right now you're a lot further along than most. We'll miss you, buddy! :D

07-07-2009, 08:03 PM
hehe Michael, thnx so much for those encouraging words :) but here is the situation: 10 print size paintings in next 3 months, 2 days per week full time job as an art director for another company, couple of storyboards for music video and 3 other "smaller" projects.. I just hope I'll eat and sleep enough to survive :D But after October will pass by I'll be free as a bird again.. if nothing else drops by.

07-07-2009, 08:11 PM

really inspiring painting. It's too bad that you wont be able to finish this for the competition, it would have been great to see it finished.

07-13-2009, 11:20 PM
Whoa! That sucks! You still have abt a month to go.. maybe you can squeeze some time in to finish this. It looks great!

07-29-2009, 11:07 AM
