View Full Version : dust cloud

does anyone know what would be the best way to make a realistic looking dust cloud, like the kind you'd find under a helicopter or in dragonball z? any help would be appreciated

don't know how much you already know, but particles set to emit from a volumn emitter placed below ground level and emitting straight up, particles set to multi point with multi point radius at least 1, play with their other render options, give a lifespan around 4 sec, then set up fields to direct or scatter the cloud as wanted. I have been using the volumn axis cloud. use one to scatter the particles away from the helicopter and another to make them flow horizontally across the ground. you can then make a drag field on the outside, give it the shape of a torus and scale it outside of the helicopter to slow the dust once it has drifted away from the cyclone of the helicopters roterblades.

this part is simple the devil is in the details. where to set attenuation, the different magnitudes of the fields and the speed of the emitters.

your question is very general and their is no "general" with dynamics.

hope this helps
