View Full Version : Point me in the right direction

I have tried to make a Beer liquid shader.
The result is either a too transparent or a jelly
like one. The jelly version is when I use incandesence.
How can I increase the color on a common glasslike
shader without getting the jellylike look?

what you need to do is use a shader that's capable of rendering some kind of distance-based refracted color, so it looks like it has some thickness to it. mia_material_x is your best bet.

with a mia_material, you can set a maximum depth for refractions based on how wide your beer surface is... let's say 10 cm. then set your color at max depth to be the darkest color that your beer can get, like a deep orange-brown or whatever depending on the kind of beer you're trying to render. if the beer surface is one-sided, set the mia_material's refraction setting to "thin-walled" instead of "solid." then mess around with the actual refraction color.
