View Full Version : Plasma globe
04 April 2009, 09:42 PM
im currently doing a school project, and we decided to do one about a plasma globe that succesfully creates life but this is short lived as its creations are populated by humans, who destroy what it has created and in the end the globe dies (you might have guessed that its kinda like the condition of the planet, but for the sake of the theme weve been set, its also a metaphor for the workings of the human body). The theme btw is 'Ghost in the machine' and the link to a test render of it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6imOyes82b8
please critique!! as theres room for improvment.

Nice work there. Is it telling a story?

It's looking great. One thing you really should avoid though is having the camera pass through objects like the wall and pipe at the beginning. If you really have to, make the transition faster so you cant see the clipping as the camera moves out of the pipe.

It's looking great.
Two things though:
The camera movement when the first globe is destroyed is a little too fast and sudden, I'd try giving it a little anticipation and a smoother speed curve.
The whole rebirth sequence goes a little too fast for my tast, I think it'd add more tension would you make it go slower and create anticipation by making a greater pause between the destruction and the rebirth.
It's going great anyway, though.

Thanks for all the replies and yes it is telling a story. the story is complicated atm as there are sections of movie missing as its still in the production stage and itll be quite difficult to explain the story so when im done ill post it again and maybe then i wnt need to explain the story lol. I wil also try to make the improvements that have been pointed out.

Well progress on the project is here, were almost at the deadlone and this is it so far. The forest scene and the city scenes are not finished yet and the beggining with the grey wall will be scraped and replaced with something else which should give you a better understanding of the story.
