View Full Version : Vehical: Jordan Formula 1 Car

Just been finishing off my Jordan. I'm quite happy with it, but any c & c's would be nice.

Made in Max 5 from photo's (off the jordan and f1 sites), took me about 4 weeks in lunch breaks and alittle after hours work. I rendered it using VRAY and the final image used HDRI.

I'm about to start animating it, something like on a track racing another f1 car?

Anyways, let me know what you think...

Dreamerrr :hmm:

If they don't work:

Nice photographs! ;) I don't see anything wrong with those images at all. Maybe you could add more detail to the tires. Don't race car tires have those little zig-zag grooves in them? Other than that, great work!

No, that's the right pattern on dry track formula 1 tyres..

But have you tilted the front wheels inwards (at the top)?
In Formula 1 the front wheels are like this "/---\" (not that much tho') because in the corners the tyres will then be flat on and get maximum grip :)

But, your model, texturing and render looks very nice to me =) Keep it up!

I was thinking about cambering the tyres in a alittle, but I thought it wouldn't look right because most people who would be viewing this, wouldn't have as much indepth knowlage into f1 as the F1 "junkies" (come on Jordan!!)

Thanks for the comments... any others would be nice..

Looks wonderful. Almost photrealistic.

One thing that I noticed is that the red 'V-10" on the nose looks a bit low resolution.. It might just be your lpg settings but maybe a higher res texture would look better.

Also, all the cars have an onboard camera mounted in the black airfoil over the air intake. I don't see any holes or lens covers where that camera would be.

Also, the inside edge of the outmost side of the side air intakes looks a bit sharp. maybe try chamfering that edge a bit more.

Other than that, beautiful renders.

Thanks for the comments... I've just been playing aruond with the texture for the car and rendered out a "clay" version. Don't they do that first as a scale model? Not too sure what happened to the front tyres, I rekon it's the HDRI map I used.

As for the low res V-10 Vodka texture... unfortuantly, I tried to contact Jordan to find out if they could send me some plans and maybe their sponsers in a decent res (a friend of mine tried that with Minardi and it worked) but I had no luck.... I was thinking of trying to send it to Jordan to see if they need any stills made up, would be nice to put on my cv I did some work for a Formula 1 manufactuerer!! ;)

The whole project took about 4 or 5 weeks during lunch break and of course paying projects... Check out the new shot, let me know what you think.

i think you did a great job on the car. i would fix the tires and put more or reflective surface. other than that good job.
