Hi everyone. :)
I represent the noncommercial project «Car crash».
The theme of this project is not a basis of our activity, but we wish to develop and move further. In the given project the emphasis has been made on render MentalRay and compositing. Particles will be still added.
We will be glad to listen to your opinion.

Technically speaking, how will it crash? Simulated or animated?

The surrounding structure could use some more dirt.
Making look like it's been lived.
Dirty/broken windows.
Posters, boxes, wood. Containers.
Tire marks of earlier racing...

Crash will be animated, not simulated. + particles +motions+ compositing)
Environment we'll complete. We'll add tyres and dust. Still we wish to make a dust the animated.

That sounds like a interesting project.
One thing I would do I would change that side exhaust. Seems bulky in my opinion.
Try Cervinis design. Way more cleaner in my opinion.

Design of the car not ours. It's real car Mustang-GTR, the truth some things hardly have been modified.

Sounds really cool! I'm always interested in seeing beautiful things look worn, ruined, or ugly in art. There's a kind of elegance in that.

Expanding on what do-re-my asked, what are the specifics of the crash, or what kind of crash were you thinking of portraying? As much as the act of the crash or the scene of the end result will show the destruction of the car, it also makes the viewer think of the person driving the car at the time. What was he thinking/doing when the crash happened? Was it his fault? Weather conditions? Etc.

I'll try to lay out today animatic the project to make things clear.
We didn't think of the driver :) The main character is the car. Weather does not influence style of driving. The driver wasn’t entered in turn.
The modelling phase is not priority for us. In it there is no complexity :) Priority: compositing, simulated, particles.

The smoke has definitely gotten better but it's still not quite doing it for me. It still shouts "faaaaaake!" too much. How are you going about creating it?

It is a little search, but it is effective. :bounce: We do it with the fume fx. It'll be necessary to count it with smaller emission of a smoke.
I'll soon lay out video with this smoke.

Very nice animation and nice volumetric, dense smoke, it's much more interesting when it has no opacity... Aslo it's dynamic looks fine. But as I see, the back lights are turned on, but there is no red light on the smoke... I think it should be there. And also there is no reflection of the smoke on the car.

Very nice animation. But what about the driver and glass? And I think bonnet would have more movement after such crash, now it stays still.

So we are waiting for new updates ) It would be interesting ))

I think if the impact is great enough to crunch up the front of the Mustang that much, the back end should come up a little as it hits... and instead of sliding sideways (toward the camera) it would spin around. Either way everything modeling/rendering/effects-wise looks great. Keep it up! :thumbsup:
