View Full Version : How do I make alpha appear with Arc/Design material shader?

03 March 2009, 04:01 AM
How do I get my alpha texture to appear when rendering in Mental Ray? I applied an Arc & Design material shader on my object and I don't see a slot for opacity. I see the diffuse and normals slot, but not sure how to turn on alpha.

Like for example, if I have a standard material, I have lots of slots I can play with (diffuse, spec, color spec, reflection, opacity, etc. Not sure how to apply it when using the Architectural arc and design material. Anyone know? or any better methods?

I'm just playing around with some lighting and trying to achieve a semi realistic scene. Object is a brick wall with a window in the middle (i'm trying to make the glass transparent which is the alpha part).

Using 3Ds Max 9. Thanks.

A&D -> special purpose maps -> cutout.
