View Full Version : DWIV-3D-Spartistic-War Machine
03 March 2009, 07:46 AM
My War Machine has no name but rather the rank of Seasoned Juggernaut. One earns the rank from its shear size. This Seasoned Juggernaut, originals from a machine world where resources were becoming scarce. The machines of this world, genetically engineered a new renewable metal substance. This metal can be grown, thus a Seasoned Juggernaut starts off not much taller than 4ft. Over time it grows bigger and denser. To achieve this rank, a machine must be of increadable size, therefore being a great number of years old.
There is a problem with the metal though, as the machines need to feed the metal with a liquid compound developed to give it constant nourishment. The Seasoned Juggernaut needs to keep this fluid from over heating, to keep it at the optimum absorbant temperature. Therefore it has numerous areas throughout its body, where the armour is thin and the fluid can cool. This Seasoned Juggernaut has been designed to be able to move about its plate metal armour, to help cool the fluid and to create room for the metal to grow.

Well this is what ive got so far. Ive got alot to do, but this will give you an idea of my general direction. Im going to try and get it looking less like a crab. Lots of machinery and weapons to add to it, and then there is detailing to do. But hopefully i can get that all done tomorrow :argh:

Sweet design, loving the crab look.
That one eye? looks really menacing, it's awesome.
03 March 2009, 10:03 AM
Thanks man. Yeah ive got to define how it all works now, while adding artillery. Hmm not quite sure how im gonna do that lol :arteest:

Sweetastic brother. Looking mighty fine will be cool to break up the shell a bit more. really make is scary and threatening to a demon lord. cant wait to see more. Maybe with a human figure near it to see scale. :applause: :wip:
03 March 2009, 11:47 PM
haha well there is a little stick figure by the front left leg, so yeah its quite a big machine :D
03 March 2009, 03:46 AM
well here is an update. still thinking about guns. will probably copy the caonnon tothe other side to have 2 of them. Not sure if i like the front of it to much, im thinking of making it into a giant eye. Let me know what you think

I'm liking the idea so far, my one suggestion is that maybe make it look more mechanical.
I feel it looks too organic.
with that "gun"? on top, maybe it would look better being on an arm or swivel of sorts, or maybe even under it?
keep it up

Nice you added a gun. Try some unique shapes and stuff, seem quite primitive shaped. Also this is a 3d entry so I wouldn't waist my time re doing any drawings to be nicer looking. As the only thing you've done since last night is added a gun.
Savage this thing up dude think brutal and gritty . Being so big you have to really break this crab up. Do some quick sketches like the first post you did to play around with it a bit. Any who still very interested in seeing where this is going. :wip:

Cheers for the feedback some very valid points there :applause: i think i will try the gun under it. and focus now on making it more robotic as i think doing that will help me get added deails that have been bugging me :banghead:

Added armour plating/robic parts to the legs, this gives an idea of how it will look. Any critiques welcome

the last update is awesome! liked the armour plating, now it looks robotic.. i agree with Xidon, you need to add more details.. the only threatening feature is its size, need to have more guns, also there is a huge gap underneath those legs.. when there is lots of abomination demons running around, many can just get underneath unnoticed since the eye is positioned in front and also i feel that you don't need that big eye for a gaint machine, for the eye will be very high above the ground so even an average sized eye can capture most details.. big eyes would make more sense for a small scouts, atleast thats what i think.. Good going..

Last update for the night :wavey: about the big eye, i agree about it being big maybee too big. but it also acts as a huge laser. it hase secondary eyes around the main one to get better perspective and to better judge distances. The cannons i added arent finished, its to get an idea/feel of what it would be like with it. i like the 3 turrets though, so i might be sticking with that idea, but ill try and work into the design other weapons more for defensive purposes than offensive. critiques always welcome, the more the merrier ;)

Hey cool to see the guns down the bottom. Would be nice though being tight tight deadline, to see a splash page of ideas, think quick and messy so we can mix and match several ideas to help you achieve the best design. just focusing on adding detail to only 1 idea seems quite restrictive to your ideas and for us to critique them. spend an hour or so to through down 6ish or so ideas of different parts of the crab. Keep it up dude. :arteest:
03 March 2009, 06:57 AM
Sounds good man i think i will try that. I think it will help me come up with the rest of the designs, ill probably even surprise myself  ill post up some new ideas of areas i want to improve on in about 2hours

I have changed the front area to make it look more evil. I finished off delailing the plate armour, and added a few more weapons. The flaps at the back open up to vent the fluid inside, while exposing more weapons. The hole on the top side shoot out missles, while the hoole near the gun on the front are air intakes. All guns are mounted on a ball system for maximum coverage. All critiques welcome. Next step colours :buttrock:
03 March 2009, 07:46 PM
Sweet looks good dude  I like the changes you have made. Would be cool to develop the main cannons a bit they have a great idea but still cant help thinking its just a cylinder.
03 March 2009, 12:41 AM
Friken awesome man, lovin it.
My only gripe(I think xidon agrees) is the main 3 guns underneath, look very much like plain cylinders.
other than that  :applause:

Right bro, looking good, lets see you get onto the modeling phase yeah!!
Keen for more updates :)
04 April 2009, 10:39 AM
I think the crab design is a good concept if you can make it look sufficiently machine like, maybe some big cylinders and hydraulic hoses in the joints etc. Also the 3 gun underneath is looking a bit of an afterthought. How about huge crab claws with huge cannons on them? Keep it up. Good luck.

sorry for the delay, ive been realy busy lately, but i will post up some model wips tomorrow :deal:
04 April 2009, 10:54 AM
Well here is my model so far... im going over low poly then seeing where i can add details and what parts i can and need to invest lots of polys. any critiques welcome ... Will be posting updates soon. My plan for this is to make the whole low poly model and paint the normal maps in photoshop, it will be interesting to see how this comes out :curious:
