I'm taking the opportunity of re-creating a character of mine. A lot of the original inspiration comes from several sources, including Simon Bisley and Quake 3.
I did this as part of an independent study, and it's sort of been rotting in my portfolio ever since. My goal was to create a sweet, female jungle character, but the anatomy came out wrong, the textures are not fully detailed, and the overall design is very bland. So now, I have the energy and time to finally redo this character, and it will require going back to the drawing board.

I just love the forms and the mix of shapes and materials. I definitely have to branch off and start my own concept and go back to square one. I figure I'd just open my thread up as I worked. I'll have my own concept soon.

Since last posting, I've been building my human female base from scratch. Right now, there's extra resolution in the face, hands and feet. I have an easier time building repeated structures (such as knuckles and webbing) in Maya. Once I have the high resolution sculpt, I reduce this model. Still so much work to do. More concept stuff will be coming down the way.

Thanks! Keep in mind, the first shot is one of an older character I created, but if new base came out really fast, then thanks (again)!
Right now, I'm struggling a bit with the concept. I'm toying around with a lot of elements of the archaic and fantastical (such as armor and fancy helmets) with some grittier post-apocalyptic elements (rusting firearms and old grenades). Will have more soon.

Here's my concept; I just collaged a bunch of elements together based on some rough pencil sketches. And for this image, I began piecing elements together in layers. I'm going to start modeling the helmet, rifle, spear and such then it's off to ZBrush.
Still working out where and how to incoporate the logo.

I think that skull might be a little bit too big for the character. Maybe you could use a smaller animal or maybe remove a piece of the skull itself leaving only the eyes.

Thanks for the feedback Hazard! I went back and just did some quick adjustments and after resizing the skull, I serious notice how oversized the original was!
I'm going to do my best to stick with the donkey skull if I can; I like how the shapes and contours take on a life of its own. I thought about using a ram's head but it might look too Satan-y.
