Hey everybody Ill be jumpin' in for yet another year of Dominance supporting Cgtalk. I haven't decided what class im going with yet so yeah.. here come the thumbnails.

Cant wait to see what everyone comes up with :)

edit: I decided to go Demon Prince.. yeah I know hes very human... come on.. somebody had to do it!

03 March 2009, 09:27 AM
I like all your thumbs.
Id say that 2 and 4 looks like the strongest, but the third looks like the one that can become most interresting if you come up with something great for it :)

Good luck in this war!

03 March 2009, 10:54 AM
I like all of them - the 3rd one has a lot of potential...

03 March 2009, 11:17 AM
Yeah I'd say the second one looks the strongest.

03 March 2009, 11:22 AM
2nd 3rd are my faves,keep going

03 March 2009, 07:46 PM
I like the first 3 characters.. powerful! All the Best kmanning

03 March 2009, 08:00 AM
thanks everybody.. heres another wip... this one is for a prince

03 March 2009, 11:25 AM
Promising start I must say :) It reminds me of the "Assassin's Creed" character.

03 March 2009, 02:17 PM
Hey dude.. and thx alot for the replys in my thread... look sweet, really like the assassins creed meets evil dude kinda thing, you got going :)

03 March 2009, 02:20 PM

Looking really sweet, can't wait to see more of your work.

03 March 2009, 08:11 AM
thanks for the support everybody.. heres an update.. im not the greatest concept artist but hey.. I try :)

03 March 2009, 10:00 AM
made a little progress on this guy today.. still a lot of design decisions to be made but I figure ill either make them while modeling or concept them out independently. The chest piece was inspired by my AD, justin cherry at work.. something about faces on armor.. I dunno, but it does look cool. Anyways, heres an update.

03 March 2009, 10:14 AM
looking great! laughing demon face on his armor is awesome! maybe you should let the horns come out of cloak instead of passing through.

03 March 2009, 10:20 AM
yeah I haent gotten to detailing the hood yet.. im thinking ripped cloth around them or maybe even making the hood out of human skin... I dunno.. thoughts?

Thanks a lot for the comment

03 March 2009, 10:42 AM
oh, i didn't see teeth on the hood at first. then is he already using some monster's skin as hood? (and horns are parts of that monster?) anyways, both ideas are good and well-thought. well, you can try to use hood as just a large piece of skin with holes for horns that he can put on his head instead of something wearable. So it hangs down on his shoulders.
i'm not sure that i could tell what i mean :I
anyway, i hope it gives you an idea.

03 March 2009, 05:43 AM
wow that's looking pretty cool, keep going!!

03 March 2009, 09:27 AM
update... im kinda changing things as I go.. im also gonna ditch the shoulder pads and come up with a new concept.. the ribs just look to weak.. anyways, whatcya think?

03 March 2009, 11:41 AM
you gave him a great armor, and the evil faces on the hood are a cool idea...

03 March 2009, 02:52 PM
Hey Nice dude.. its realli looking gr8... love to see more...

03 March 2009, 03:11 PM
thumbs up for the faces on his hood, great idea. The rest is nice aswell ;)

03 March 2009, 08:37 AM
one shoulder blade.. kinda done... still needs some lovin.. they will be asymmetrical by the way.. anyways heres an update

04 April 2009, 07:44 AM
just got back in town last night so I havent had much time for an update.. but heres what I got done tonight

04 April 2009, 08:03 AM
last update is looking awesome! like the way it is going.. Great progress!
the only thing that i felt odd is that flesh around the area where his thumb connects.. but i know you will fix it as you go along

Great Going!

04 April 2009, 08:16 AM
thanks a lot.. im still kinda "in the air" about what to do with the hands. I gave him some long slender fingers and added the nails but I don't know.. they seem a little plain.. maybe ill scorch them to hell and have them crack all up his arm like in the concept.. I dunno.. we'll see I guess.. I still do have armor to add

04 April 2009, 08:19 AM
I'm really liking the way this is going man. Good zbrushing too ;) Keep it up.

Biceps are possible a bit small, unless that is the direction you were going.

04 April 2009, 08:21 AM
thanks for the comment, ill thicken them up and see how they look.. you are right, they defiantly look a little weak. Thanks for the crit

04 April 2009, 01:03 PM
hey kevin!

very nice and clean work you got here. good details. especially like the ones on the hoods.
good luck on your further venture.

04 April 2009, 01:07 PM
Awesome job on the sculpt. You need not be the greatest concept artist, as long as you can convert your thoughts into 3d. It's the final 3d piece that matters, and it seems like you have things under control. Plugged

04 April 2009, 05:17 AM
update.. still plugging away

04 April 2009, 09:19 AM
well heres my base.. Normals and AO.. Right now hes sitting at 4500 triangles and im using 3/4 of the 2048 texture sheet. Still a lot of room for cutting in details, adding weapons and some overlaying armor (I think im going to add something to his feet and arms.. just gotta draw up some concepts) Anyways, hope ya like him

04 April 2009, 09:04 PM
AWESOME WORK!:buttrock: Love the faces in the hood, this has turned out really well.

04 April 2009, 09:08 AM
Thanks man.. I decided, cause im still working on a concept for his weapons and gear, to play with some textures.. Heres the first tex wip

no spec maps yet.. just color, emisive and normal

04 April 2009, 07:24 PM
He looked handsome and decadent.
OH~!yes!I like he ! Good JOB!!

04 April 2009, 01:26 AM
just a little texture update.. hopefully ill get a lot more done tonight

04 April 2009, 09:10 AM
this is all I could get done tonight :( oh well.. its progress.. Hopefully ill get a chance to design his weapons tomorrow

04 April 2009, 09:28 AM

He looks really nasty :p I love your texture and the color scheme :)

It's a fire demon I guess ?

04 April 2009, 09:30 AM
hey everybody I think im going back to the drawing board with the textures. Also I added his little imp guy and a weapon. I still have a few thousand polies to play with so ill prolly give the little guy a staff and spend the rest of effect :) Anyways heres a black and white of the updates.. still undecided about a color scheme

04 April 2009, 09:05 AM
hey all.. slow progress but hey.. its coming along.. I still have the hood, lower body and imp to texture but heres what I have so far.. just color and emmisive.. spec is coming after I finish the color maps :) crits and comments?

04 April 2009, 02:23 PM
nice progress so far . .

Some personal thoughts:
- You can brighten up front armours a little bit so that they will look more clear and will not mix up with back clothe/covers.
- The glow on his belt and thigh, it is looking almost round for now, some irregular rays according to the surface border may give proper feeling.
-The skull piece on his head is getting merge with the skin color.

Just IMO . . you are doing good, looking for more updates.

04 April 2009, 03:15 PM
congrats on the great work , this guy looks really cool , but the small guy looks kinda funny
don't know exactly , may be different colors would help him , but the man looks damn cool
keep it

04 April 2009, 04:58 PM
thanks for the comments guys, and like I said, the textures are still getting fleshed out. The imp is just flat shaded with a red overlay. Once I get the legs done of the main guy, the hood and the arms Ill start on the little guy and get him to "fit" better. Thanks again

04 April 2009, 09:24 AM
small update.. got a little spec in there on the metals and some geo additions.. still pluggin away

04 April 2009, 11:12 PM
jeeze dude your kicking my ass.. the only thing I might say is can you make him look a little meaner with more of a cold hard evil to him other then that wow holly cow how do you get all that amazing detail in there.. . great job.

04 April 2009, 05:26 PM
Looking good man! the textures are coming out nicely! Keep it up!

04 April 2009, 06:25 PM
Very nice texturing work. Looking forward to seeing the little guy when he's finished.

04 April 2009, 07:10 PM
This is looking really good! I'm loving all the details... there is something about the proportion though? I think that the fact that he has human proportion takes away how impressive he feels? The textures are looking sweet so far :-)

04 April 2009, 09:18 PM
thanks everybody!

Kavi_Mewa: What do ya suggest?

QuantumPixel: will do, when I pose him ill tweak his expression.

04 April 2009, 06:38 AM
still working away.. I still have a bunch of time so im hoping to come up with some interesting poses and such for the final presentation

04 April 2009, 07:06 AM
looking good buddy, like the armour sculpting.

04 April 2009, 05:21 PM
This is looking great man. I like this direction a lot. Keep it up!

04 April 2009, 08:38 AM
another work in progress presentation piece

04 April 2009, 02:21 PM
Love the last presentation shot it's really cool! :buttrock:

05 May 2009, 08:56 AM
still working on the beauty shot. Im probably going to get a base done tomorrow night and start putting all the images together. what do ya think?

05 May 2009, 10:10 AM
I dont think that you should invert him on the top right pic. Looks weird when his facestuff and everything is on the wrong side.
And the pose he got on the bottom left pic is kinda weird with his legs going in so separate ways, looks like he is gonna take a shit. :P
You could try having 1 knee on the ground instead.

I think it looks great besides that.

05 May 2009, 05:00 PM
Great stuff. Awesome character.keep it up:beer:

05 May 2009, 03:13 AM
another update ....

05 May 2009, 06:24 AM
anybody know if Glow is considered a post effect? heres my WIP presentation image

05 May 2009, 06:36 AM
Texture sheet WIP

05 May 2009, 08:32 AM
I realized that I didn't post any wireframes so here they are.. also with the construction image... think its enough?

And a rough Concept page

05 May 2009, 09:39 AM
I was also wondering, but I read the rules again and I'm leaning towards not allowed any post effects 2d or 3d. I'd try ask some other guys who have entred before and look at past presentaion posts.

"Post effects from 3d softwares or 2d programs like Photoshop are NOT allowed in this image."

05 May 2009, 08:05 PM
well... i just submitted my final images :) good luck everybody!!!
