And so it begins - i just hope I learned enough during the General Mini Challenge to be able to finish. I guess there really isn't any better way to learn this stuff than in the middle of all out war!
At the moment I am creating a Norm Stalker. Naturally, it's his job to take down those demons.

So my guy is sort of a magic sniper - he is also blind but he has a tiny spotter to help him - So he is part falconer and part assassin - the gun is going to be more magic then tech so I think that fits the norms.
And now I sit back and wait 6 weeks to start modeling!

I have been dabbling with ZBrush here and there for awhile and this program blows my mind. I have decided my character has to be old and have like a 1000 wrinkles cause it is so fun! I have to go back and work on some more 2D designs but this is the head I was messing around with today.
And sure after 1 day of making wrinkles on a head I am no expert BUT - it seems to me the real key to making quality work is masking and then more masking and more masking. I created lots and lots of weird blobby heads and then started masking and finally feel like I have some control over the program.

I am working on creating something a little more solid than previous sketches so I can start modeling. He has given up his normal sight and covered his body with ancient markings that allow him to see and grasp troubled earth spirits which he then combines with his own potions to create volatile magic bombs that his tiny bird friends gladly drop on oncoming machine or demon forces. I like the idea of swarms of birds flying around but I have to see how many polygons I will have left over.
I keep getting the feeling that his head looks familiar so I might end up changing that to make him more original. I started out with the intention to make him friendly looking but he has gotten sort of serious looking so I might have to add a silly hat or something...
