That's not a question, that's answer.
I made it just for fun and easy work (i saw it in a demo reel, but did not know how it work, thought about task ... probably 5 minutes :) ).

Thats pretty cool, but there is something I cant seem to understand. I saw the same thing in some demo somewhere as well, but I cant seem to understand why anybody would want to go and set this up. As far as I'm concerned the blendshape editor is so easy and nice to use. I dont have 5.0, so I never actually downloaded your file, but I just wanted to know if it has blending? If not, then it's definitely not worthwhile.
Your idea looks cool, but I just think it's fancy but not useful

OK, try this one, Maya 4.5, rar (http://home.internet.lv/alexpet5/blend45.rar) ... and write your comments only after you check the file, not before ...

I still dont think this will work for facial expressions. If you've got something like 40 different blendshapes, how's your interactive control going to be and how are you going to blend them. There is also no labeling. It works well for like 4 blendshapes. For that purpose it really looks nice and fun. Not necassery, fun!

ok, forget it :)
P.S. ... or (i show you right way :) ) you can try to make new blend shape, new samplerInfo, new nurbs circle and i trust all will be happy :wavey:
