Hi all,

I've been in the WIP forum long ago and colored an elf drawing from member Itchi. (Which was awesome BTW :buttrock: )
Visit this post to see the original 2D drawing (

I've taken the permission to take this elf drawing in a 3D world. I is a little short, but the whole thing was done in 5 days with Maya 5.0. 2 days for modeling, 2 days for setup-animation and 1 day to test-render.

Tell me what you think !

The picture is pretty dark and hides much detail. But it looks cool from what i can see.

Also it would be better to post direct links so people can d/l the movie and not be forced to stream it. I havn't looked at it yet for that particular reason. It didn't load the first 2 times i tried, so i will do it again later.

I decided to try it one last time tonight, and it worked. It was actually pretty damn cool! i really liked the sword, and it feels very familiar. The blade looks VERY clean though, and not a scratch or nick anywhere on it. That gives it a strange feeling (perhaps the blade is magical?). Also the gold lace/accents on the armor and sword's hilt and handgaurd could use some work. it doesn't fit well with the rest of it.

I loved the hair, and the 'woosh' that happens after he swings the sword. His body movements seem a little unnatural during and after the swing though.

Overall i like it, and would like to see more of him. a fight would be really cool to see :D

But i would also say the textures on him and his sword need work. Right now they seem very flat and plain. Some good textures would add alot of life and detail to him.

One last thing, the glare on the blade in the begining looks really sweet! but i did have to turn my monitor brightness up ALOT to get a good look at the whole clip. So i think lighting needs some work too!

The still you have doesn't do the animation any justice! The lighting needs work, the light background with a dark foreground is distracting from your animation and modelling. It makes everything look very fake (escpecially the trees). The hair looks cool, and the animation is nice though as angel O'death mentioned, if you make the textures a little more worn, and work on your lighting it will lift the animation alot.

In my earlier post, i was going to add the comment that i think you should change the gold on the armor and sword to silver. I just looked at the 2D picture thread, and i see that's what u did there. do it for the 3D version as well, the blue and silver looks awesome!

Also i just noticed the left arm armor has silver instead of gold. do that for all, it looks great!

Here's a direct link for the file for those who want to save it and then view it.

I've calibrated my screen, but its so ligthed now... :) hmmm... not sure if its better... Anyway, a new render is coming up.

I've also changed the body texture and made the colors silver and blue for most of the items. I've also worked on the sword a little.

Thanks for the comments !

I've uploaded new movies. The ambiance is now more dawn/night colors. Follow the link at the top of this post to the new files !

Thanks again for the C&C !! Keep them coming !

for 5 days work that ain't bad at all man. from what I can tell though the anim is a little short, so it's tough to crit anything specific. I like the colors, and the movement of the hair. the sword material looks almost transparent, the reflectivity/opacity levels may be set too high. i like the subtle movement of the leaves on the tree on the left, but wouldn't the wind also be affecting the palm on the right? seems like when he jumps over the log there is no movement in his stomach area. i know it will be tough to pull off, but try doing something similar to this in front of a mirror, its the best way to see what muscles/body are moving/reacting. again great animation, has some tech flaws, but good job for only 5 days work :D

I like it. Exxagerate the Leap a bit more. Like when he comes over that log, his knees should go higher like spiderman. It will create better momentum for his sword swipe.

Thanks all for your critics. It helped creating cool content !
