View Full Version : Unpolished Stainless Steel Shader?

Can anybody refer to some good free unpolished/ polished stainless steel shaders?

I'm not able to achieve the look unfortunately. Also the built-in material presets didn't give me the desired results.

Any tips & suggestions very appreciated!

Do you have an environment to reflect? Steel, metal, etc. in general really starts to look like metal when it has a proper environment to reflect. Get an HDRI environment and use it to give the surface something to look at.

Besides that a basic phong/blinn material with specular turned off and reflection turned up to near white...diffuse turned down to near black... and maybe some gloss with samples (if you want blurred reflections) should do the trick.

If you want to get fancy go get a scratched surface map for adding scratches and imperfections and use it in the bump or reflection channel.
