View Full Version : Executing a MELScript on the fly?

02 February 2009, 01:28 AM

I've just started learning MEL today, and I've written a small script that works when I run it in the script editor or the Expression Editor. However, I want to have the script execute either constantly (not just each time I select a frame in the timeline), or preferably whenever I translate a control curve, so that I see the results of the script as I move the curve in the viewport.

This seems like it may be really easy thing to do, but I can't seem to figure it out. I find this MELScript stuff very challenging, but also very rewarding once a problem is solved. Thanks for your help!

Check out Script Jobs. It is a way to fire mel scripts off based on certain criteria. If you want it to run constantly simple have it run when maya is idle. You can also designate it to run when things are selected.
