View Full Version : Character : Diesel ( - LCR - )

Well, I've finally finished Diesel, the Low Consumption Robot.
He's a robot I drew a long time ago, about a year or so, and the picture was just laying on my computer when I just found it last week and thinked it would be cool to model it.
The concept Image (http://kureks.free.fr/diesel/N_concept.jpg)
And here it is. I've been working on it for the past five or six days I think, 2 days to model, 4 to texture and render.
Max 5.1, Finalrender, HDRI, retouched with photoshop.
And here are some renders of diesel in scanline :
Close up - Head (http://kureks.free.fr/diesel/N_close1.jpg)
Close up - Hand (http://kureks.free.fr/diesel/N_close2.jpg)
Well, hope you like it !!!!
and of course, feel free to comment. :wavey:

I really like the design and the green textures are awesome, but something about the orange parts look unfinished, like they still need grunge maps. They seem a lot less dirty than the other parts.

Cool design! As said Shwayman dirt on the leg could have improve these parts. I think that the cloudy day lightning produce a lack of volume in the picture.

that's a nice looking render. A couple of quick CnCs.
shouldn't the other wire be blue? That's what came to mind.
I think he should be completely green. The orange bits look odd and disparent. Maybe the other posters are right about the grime thing.

really neat now that its completed. you have bump map on the metal?

Thanks everyone for all your comments.
eYadNesS : do you remeber the name of the game ?
ShwayMan : In fact the orange part have a procedural texture (except for the neck), I just couldn't continue working on it, not enough time. And by the way it's wood or sort of, no rust on it .
Kel Solaar : Maybe a should try a render with something more contrasted.
TheGreenGiant : completely green ? haven't thinked about that, 'cause in the concept I did it orange. Maybe a darkest green may be cool.
Levitateme : Yea, there's bump map, reflexion map, diffuse and all. you can see a sample here : Parts (http://kureks.free.fr/diesel/D_02_tex1.jpg) Texture detail (http://kureks.free.fr/diesel/D_02_tex2.jpg)
and here the wire animation test (http://kureks.free.fr/diesel/cables2.mov) if someone is interesterd
I did another render, but always foggy :), must be a problme coming from my brain, I'm sure of it, yeah .
Well, thx everyoooone
