Very cooool design....
I liked it...

Can we see a wire for that big blobby beast?

Did you model/texture the characters on the facial expressions page?

I'm really impressed with the level of detail!

07 July 2003, 08:57 AM
les modèles étaient franchemant bien en tout cas !!! :buttrock:

07 July 2003, 08:58 AM

Looks like me in the morning.

Fired!!!!! why?????

07 July 2003, 12:16 PM
Economic reason, "Kaena the prophecy" didn't make a good score in France and I think it won't be distributed in US:shrug:
Take care,

Great stuff!

Had you used displacement maps, or is all that geometry for real?
Send us a wire.

Nice! Have you ever read the Vampire World books by Brian Lumley? That looks like it could be a warrior or some other flying vampire creature from one of those books.

07 July 2003, 02:28 PM
Thanks a lot Orly Wanders and Sanguis Mortuum

This only geometry , no displacement maps, built using 3DSMax boolean operations. I made this model nearly 4 years ago and I don't have it anymore. I won't be able to post a wire shot but this model was about one million polys..
Take care,

07 July 2003, 03:27 PM
boolean, 4 years ago and no wires

that sounds a little strange if you ask me, if you want a job show something new and suport your future boss with everything they need to see, that this work is done by you ;)

but nevermind, the model is really great i can't believe that youve done this with boolean, but if you say so, you got my respect!

07 July 2003, 07:48 PM
Well Neox, I 'll try to find the mesh in my backups, but you're right about the recent work. This model was rebuilt using meshsmooth technic by Christophe Dur so that it could be animated.
Here is the link to his site:
Thanks for your post!

I have just found an old WIP render of my model. I don't know if this proves anything but here it is...

07 July 2003, 08:55 PM
Here is a wireframe shot:
I hope this will convince you..
Take care,

PS: I remember I had to cut the mesh into small parts (60 000 faces) because union operations didn't work on bigger meshes. Then re weld the parts...

07 July 2003, 09:23 PM
my god...i cant belive you modeled all of that. i figured displacement

07 July 2003, 09:15 PM
... that thing looks sick...

But in a good way.:D

Insane amount of detail work. It looks like it went through a nuclear fallout.

07 July 2003, 06:46 AM

Tres bien....this is great work knowing this is 'just' booleans...must have been some nightmare (especially since Max was kind of unstable with booleans in the early days)

I heard things about that movie and now I am sorry to hear that the movie didn't work out, it would've been a great boost for european CG movie making. I hope I get to see it some day on DVD.

07 July 2003, 09:01 PM
The model is awesome - but how about some textures?

07 July 2003, 10:12 PM

Boone : This model wasn't textured, its meshsmooth version was for the movie.
