Thanks guys ! :)
I'd just like to thanks Protozoaire too, I forgot them in the credits.

06 June 2003, 04:04 PM
i love them!

06 June 2003, 04:11 PM
Really nice and elegant reel, my only crit is to put some wires in the sliding pieces throughout the reel, just so recruiters can get everything in one shot, or maybe just blend a wire onto a shaded turnaround, just in case the reel doesn't make it to the end in their deck ;) Loved the music and it's great to see challenge entries in more reels :)

salud and best of luck on your job hunt

with Lil'

although I don't see the point of putting wires on a video...
you can't see anything...
nothing better than a big print or even a 3D model that can be opened and checked...

still downloading....that's long....

06 June 2003, 04:41 PM
Great work Matth :) :buttrock:

06 June 2003, 04:43 PM

06 June 2003, 04:55 PM
very cool work !!!!

quicktime works perfectly for me

06 June 2003, 05:16 PM
you have to right click save as and wait for a while before it starts ;)

06 June 2003, 05:21 PM
Nice work. One question though. Isn't that demon from the Gnomon Workshop tutorials?

06 June 2003, 07:04 PM
Very Nice demo reel.Great modeling job

06 June 2003, 07:26 PM
Nice work :)

I felt the pace was perhaps a little to slow in places, or maybe it was some of the transitions that looked out of place, but on the whole it came across as an elegant presentation of some good models.

06 June 2003, 07:56 PM
Bravo, some models are very insteresting...Why your demon isn't completed? I though you have finished him? :buttrock:

Bonne chance dans ta recherche...

06 June 2003, 07:57 PM
Cool, though be careful about the 'tv safe' areas. Some important things get very close to the edge, like the small rotating versions in the corner of the gas tanks and shoe models. Also, all of your drawings are right on the edge, as well as the end design credits. Maybe test it out on a monitor first to be sure that nothing is cut off.

06 June 2003, 08:54 PM
Fantastic reel, I love the music.

One question though--You didnt design any of the 'veggie creatures?' The credits indicate that you modeled them only, and designed and modeled the demon, correct?

Really nice! I love the way it's edited together.

The only crit I have at all is that a couple of the scenes with gradient backgrounds (gray and dark blue) have some noticable pixelization and what almost looks likes scanlines. It seems to be less noticable on the divx than the quicktime so, it may be a compression issue.

I watched it without the music and found the pace to be painfully slow. The models are good, but I think maybe you stick with the pieces too long. I think you should consider minimizing the concepts if you didn't acctually do the original sketches - I wouldn't omit them altogether, because it's cool to see the original with the final piece, but they are presented now in a fashion that would make one believe you did the concepts. Unless you watch the credits, but at that pace I think the credits would never be reached by people watching the tape as potential employers. You must be very popular with the folks that run the show around here, I wish you luck in your job searching!

Can someone mirror it pl I think the website cant take it no more.

07 July 2003, 03:08 AM

giving me an error message!!!

cant download!!!

07 July 2003, 05:09 AM
Nah won't DL for me either.

07 July 2003, 07:22 AM
Thanks guys ! I partially agree with the fact that the reel is too slow (but it depends of the moments) but you mustn't forget that it's not an animation reel but a modelling reel.

And the next guy who will talk about techno is going to suffer ! :annoyed: ;)

here are some mirrors :

Divx : 1 ( 2 (

Quicktime : 1 ( 2 (

The charecters are amazing!!! I also really like how the Real looks, it;s not trying to show off too much with extra effects but just jenuenly shows the High skill of maker!!!!:applause: :applause: :applause:

07 July 2003, 07:53 AM
Very Nice and interesting reel!
I would say very professionally done and nice choice of music, I love it!

07 July 2003, 08:22 AM
Awesome work!

This is the first time I found watching a demo reel relaxing. :) That can increase your chances, you know...

07 July 2003, 08:40 AM
Very nice Joebount
Like it a lot..

I word of advice:
Don't say that you want any old work out there. That's a bit desperate and I know that if I had an animation company I wouldn’t want somebody that doesn’t care where they work!!

Focus on companies; if you are applying for a position at John Doe's animation studio make some background check on the studio. This will be appreciated by the studio and if there are problems at the studio you may find out before your soul is lost.-)

Good luck

c'est sympa tout ça !!! le modeling est bien propre !!!

07 July 2003, 08:58 AM
downloading.... ;)

Very Nice modeling! :applause:

oh... and I like the music , fits this reel!:D

07 July 2003, 06:33 PM
Nicely put-together demo. I like that you included, sketches, wires and renders.

I really like seeing the fun stuff, like the bird and not just monsters

07 July 2003, 04:42 AM
Very nice! I agree that it has some slow spots...but the eye candy is tasty so it's not a problem. More distracting I think, is that you had cool multilayered moving pieces early on and then, all of a sudden you start fading to black between pieces. [shrug] Still not a big deal, you're not trying for an editing job! lol

(what happened to your job in...Utah, wasn't it?)

07 July 2003, 10:07 AM
Thanks guys, glad you like it ! :) :wavey:

@Pearson : me, in Utah ? I think it's somebody else ! :)

07 July 2003, 07:02 PM
