View Full Version : Help please - Cat rig inside out

I am using someone elses rig to animate a cat. Its not a very nice rig, possibly from the internet? I have made a walk cycle. When I re-open the file I find the cat facing 180 the wrong way and 'inside out'. At first I thought it may be something to do with the global control, but turning that 180 didnt fix it. Its as though every control is facing the wrong way, or one control has made the body face the other direction. Its the same in my incremental saves. Is there any way to fix this and save the animation i made? Does anyone recognise the rig? I am using maya 2008. I can share the file if it helps.

Someone figured it out for me. It was Modify/evaluate nodes/evaluate all

Not sure why the rig did this. And i dont understand the 'evaluate nodes' function. But at least the cat is facing the right way again and has kept its animations.

Evaluate nodes will control things like your blendshapes, your IK handles, Constraints, etc. and can be turned on or off individually or wholly. What probably happened was some of those were turned off for some reason and thus your joints were trying to return to their static position, but some of them were still evaluating the animation you had put on it.

That is a auto-rig setup with 'AdvancedSkeleton'.
