View Full Version : Particles penetrate Deflector

02 February 2009, 09:16 AM

the task is to set up a sand clock with particle flow. I created it using the pflow keep apart operator, gravity and an UDeflector.

But unfortunately, the deflector does not work as it is supposed to be because some particles still penetrate the surface of the deflector object (refer to the picture below).

The integration step setting makes no difference. It seems, that even more particles pass through the surface when the integration step is higher.

Do you have some idea, what is causing the problem? It may be the keep apart operator in combination with the gravity.

See my problem and the particle flow nodes: ( (

Thanks for some hints!

You hav to lower the integration step.

The deflector only workes, when the particle hits it. When the particle is above it at one step and at the next step it is below it, it doesn't actually hit. With a lower integration step, each frame is divided in smaller intervals to calculate the position of the particle, so the probability of a particle hitting the deflector is increased.

Did you try to move Collision 03 test to be below Keep Apart02 operator?

Yes, I tried it. And I also tried every available Integration Step setting. It does not work. There are always particles going through the mesh.

You might try to turn off all Display Events but the last to fix your problem. Try it and tell me if it works.
