View Full Version : maya IK spline not sticky - Can you help?

How canI make the end-effector of an IK spline chain sticky like with normal IK? The CV curve seems to override the IK handle's influence. I tried grouped clusters, with a point & orient constraint to another control object, but the IK bugs out and when moving the root I still cant get the end effector to stay in place. This is for a cartoon dog with tentacle like legs. Help would be appreciated!

There you have it, it doesnt "bug out", thatīs how the IK Spline works. To have it stay you need to make the chain stretchy

Easiest way:
Select the splinecurve, type arcLen -ch1;
Pop the arcLength on that node into Input1 on a md-node set to divide.
Set the input2 to the same value as input1, so now outputX is the scale factor. So you plug that into the stretchaxis of the joints in the chain, usually ScaleX. Do not connect into the top joint.
